SUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE! We were on a narrow boat holiday and stopped for the night. Stretching our legs we found the Staffordshire Grill! It was a bit late, cold outside and they were still open. Chris immediately welcomed us right in and let us know the kitchen was still open. The interior was stunning, beautiful ambiance and very cozy. Chris quickly offered us cocktails and before I knew it our dinner arrived. Everything was delicious and all of us were feeling refreshed and restored. We loved our dinner experience so much we returned for breakfast. Again, Chris and the staff treated us like family. Everything, start to finish, was impeccable. Thank you Chris and staff for making us feel special on both occasions.
We dropped into the Lion's Staffordshire Grill on Christmas Lights Night to order a couple of coffees. Despite our order being tiny, we were made wonderfully welcome by the young staff, who were unfailingly polite and friendly, and even offered to take a photo of us by the cosy fire. We'll be back to sample the food soon, and we look forward to sitting in the patio garden on a warmer night.
Finding the place can be difficult as the side of the building says The Lion inn. Clear signs need to be given. Waiting staff Chris and the team are fantastic very a-tentative. Food was delicious. However dessert was abit of a wait as they were quite busy. Lovely decor. Finished to a high standard.
The falafel is the best I've had recently. Its texture is just right, not too dry not too moist. The earthy flavour of beetroot compliments perfectly with the citrus and chilli combination of the mango salad. Should go down perfectly with a nice white wine. The brisket beef came with gorgeous mash and gravy. The beef was a touch too dry. Overall a superb meal and highly recommended.
Best roast dinner I've had in ages. We were really lucky and got a table without a booking. The service was exceptional and the quality of the food was top notch. It would have been a 5star but the place is not well signposted from the road, nor is the carpark. That being said, once you find it you won't be disappointed.
£15 for a burger which was tiny , long wait even though the only other customers were a family of three already served. Bottles of water available are left with the stoppers off resulting in floating bits of dust. Our eight year old son even commented that weather spoons was better . Comment card offered with blank space where staffs name should have been. Very poor experience begrudged paying the amount we did. Lovely bakery around the rear corner fantastic, wish we'd had a pastry.
Had dinner here last night. Duck bonbon starter, T bone steak main. Starter tasted quite good, main was very disappointing. I was the first at the table to receive my plate and the chips were already cold, the sauce was absent. I had to ask twice for the Diane sauce I ordered with my steak, for it to eventually to arrive cold and only half-filled. Sides with the steak were awful, including a cold mushroom, a slice of steamed tomato, and some salad that had clearly been left standing for a while. Not a single thing on the plate was seasoned. No balsamic on the tomato. My brother ordered a T bone as well which arrived with sirloin on one side of the bone but no fillet on the other side. I quite looked forward to going here because the advertisements I saw were enticing. £180 spent and four unhappy customers who will never be going back. Had better steaks at most local pubs. I'm not a big fan of Miller and Carter, but they smash this place for 6.
Standards have definitely slipped since my last visit a few years back. Dirty menus, slow cooked brisket you have to hack through, an average steak with a high price. Service was good though.Food: 2/5
Been here several times before for our weekly ladies Sunday lunch. Initial hiccup with our phone reservation, which General Manager Dean went to endless trouble to resolve and he looked after us really well. All our food was beautiful. Restaurant was warm and inviting. We all really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend.Food: 5/5
Friendly, helpful staff from the minute we walked in the door. Delicious food. I had the slow cooked Brisket, my husband had the Belly pork. Good sized portions but could have done with more veg. Will order sides next time. My only gripe, and this is trivial really, is that our waitress was the only one not to ask if we were there for a special occasion. We were, it was our 43rd wedding anniversary. Others received complimentary glasses of fizz and a card which I thought a nice touch.
