Strafford castle was great, you need to climb the hill, it isn't too steep, the castle cannot be entered all you have to do is walk around the circle. it is good for bringing your kids and dogs. It has a free parking and free castle. There is also a forest worth visiting.
A great place for a walk with the family and dog. The woodland walk around the edge is great before a walk up to the castle. The views are brilliant and worth the walk up the hill.
I love this place. I have been visiting all my life and have seen well thought out changes to the grounds and maintenance to the castle. Although very close to a motorway and several main roads, it is in beautiful surroundings, quiet, and great for viewing the surrounding area from top of the hill. King of the castle

The old ruins of stafford are well worth the visit plus woodland walks near by around the castle
Beautiful walk! . Autumn colours. Very informative and interactive for the children! There is a path around the castle in the woods and the path all way up to the castle. Both very good for a run or walk.

Really nice walk around castle ruins. Dog friendly and it's free. I've only been once but definitely going to make it a regular spot to go exploring with the family.
