Finally I got to the church of Peter Owen Jones pastor. I have known Pastor Jones on BBC's "Lost Gospel" "How To Live A Simple Life"uploaded to YouTube and I respect him very much. It is really a behavioral pastor! I think that the people of Firle who can hear his sermons every Sunday are very happy. I would like to go to St. Peter's Church, which was built in the 13th century. But that chances will probably not come. From Yokohama, I continue to pray for the happiness of everyone in Firle.

By the gate to this Church of England country church, dating back to the 13th century with older foundations, this is written: "However you look to God, whatever your own tradition or none, St Peter's Church is open as a place of sanctuary, a place of rest, a place of healing." The Vicar of Firle, Peter Owen-Jones, and the Parochial Church Council ensure the church is open to the public from morning until sunset, to ensure the words on the gate ring true. Strangers at any stage or no stage in their faiths are particularly welcomed to the services which, while Anglican, are explicitly ecumenical in their outreach.

Born in Firle in 1949, St. Peter's was part of my life for all of my childhood and teenage years. Sadly, I live too far away now for regular visits but I have visited since moving to Wales. Many of the people of Firle may have changed but the church remains, reassuringly, almost the same; particularly the hauntingly atmospheric feeling of the building if you sit in the stillness for a while. Call in if you get the chance as I think the experience will be a lasting memory.

An atmospheric church. A beautiful venue for a wedding with lovely natural surrounds and historic feel.
