This is a lively Anglican church, well-maintained and ancient. It hosts many civic services for Lewes, in addition to the daily and weekly round of the prescribed offices of the Church of England. It is particularly distinguished for its use of the services contained within the Book of Common Prayer (1662). As happened with the famous Protestant martyrs of Lewes, the BCP's architect himself, Thomas Cranmer, was committed to the flames in the same period in history, so this church's adherence to his orders of service holds a particular resonance for local believers.
