Was a great hospital but unfortunately due to the workload it has gone downhill. Now no better that my local hospital. Doctors have two minuets to see you and rush you out of the door, that is if you can get a face to face appointment. I was discharged after 30 years for asking for a local endoscopy as the parking at St Marks is vanishing fast under development!
I don't know where to begin. Over 7 years the admin staff here have become more and more unprofessional and rude and lacking attentiveness and focus. I received my paperwork only to find wrong patient number wrong details that itself is data protection. The reception at endoscopy the admin staff are so rude not professional I think they need to go back to get some training. I always say if u don't like your job leave. St marks consultants nurses are great Dr akbar Dr Hart are amazing the others not so much. Northwick have better admin staff and central middlesex. St marks needs to have a restructuring programme start fresh with new staff and give staff thorough training. A smile goes a long way politeness kindness these are basic patient relationship. When speaking to them on the phone they don't sound happy. I asked one of staff their full name by law they have too... they are rude so please read the bad reviews base they are all right correct in everyday.
I have to admit the bad reviews written, are correct. The standards of st marks reception staff back office staff has tremendously dropped over 10 years. My mother in law is patient here, the experience we had couple months ago, i cant even write its that bad. I written a formal complaint nothing in response. When we arrived, the receptionist i believe her name is Tia she seemed like she was in a different place she was day dreaming, her friend a colleague was walking back forth on the mobile, back office staff so loud, when i tried to get reception attention mandy i believe her name is interrupted with attitude. Usually there is gentleman at front and he always polite and friendly. i spoken to secretary even she has left the trust high staff turnover. My mother in law has been attending this hospital for 15 years in those years whilst i been accompanying her never experienced rudeness attitude staff has not attention to detail its like they don't care. St marks now has to be worst trust when it comes to admin staff, even on telephone they are rude, whole department needs to looked at reviewed. PLEASE AVOID THIS HOSPITAL THE STAFF DO NOT CARE.
Unfortunately the hospital itself scores very low on cleanliness and after care. My partner came into Northwick Park through the A&E department and was triaged to the surgical assessment ward. Although very busy, the team were incredibly kind and tried to keep me comfortable whilst they assessed my problem. It was diagnosed that it was a twisted bowel and I was taken to the Frederick Salmon Ward at St Marks Hospital. The nurses and the bedside care received was excellent. My partner had previously been left traumatised from being hospitalised in another London hospital. She has now had her faith restored with the NHS Healthcare due to the excellent patient care received at the Frederick Salmon Ward, St Marks Hospital at Northwick Park. 5 stars
My surgeon was wonderful. My cancer was very complex and he would get five stars. Unfortunately the hospital itself scores very low on cleanliness and after care. The shower room's drain was blocked and nothing was done despite me telling the nurse in charge. The care after my long surgery was disgraceful. I can't go into everything but it was a nightmare.
I was at the hospital for a Dexa Scan which was on Level 9. The scan staff were both helpful and professional so no problems there but the building itself is just plain horrible. There is no Reception desk or area by the front door. No-one to greet you or direct you. Eventually found the lifts one of which was broken. There was masking tape on a broken window and the floors were poorly kept. On Level 9 finding the cupboard which was the Dexa Scan was tricky but again no Reception desk or friendly staff. It seems the building has been run down which is sad but this really was a depressing experience.
Long trip round the North circular from home, Dartford crossing always congested, and parking limited, so advise early arrival to ensure parking space, even if appointment is later in the day. Restaurant/Cafeteria & Shops open at 0700 This hospital is the centre of excellence for its specialisation, therefore very busy at most hours of the day. Departments can be well separated but treatment is prompt, and staff are caring and efficient. St Mark's and Northwick Park hospitals are contiguous, and occupy a large site, a golf club cafe and a large garden centre are within walking distance, to while away some time if on site all day.
I had my slightly complex procedure done at St Marks, Want to pass on my heart felt Thanks to all of you at St Marks - from booking, preparing me, checking -in @ Reception, Pre-operations preparation, operation itself and the Recovery was all well organised and managed. I was so amazed how gentle everyone was in explaining and conducting the procedure. I am so proud of you guys. You are all amazing. Please pass my thanks to Professor Saunders who probably oversaw all. Good bless you
I just had my surgery. Surgeon Mehta was excellent who performed my surgery . Also the anthestist was excellent and other nurses were excellent. Made me very comfortable. The nurses were excellent and one name USHA who looked after me was very very good and caring person.Mafe Mr feel very very comfortable.Thankyou very much from bottom of my heart.Only problem l had with the receiptionist who was taking all patient for surgery was very rude. She checked my name and told you didn't pick up the phone when l rang your home which was not true so drs were not able to talk or discuss with me and what medication l had to bring. But l told the desk lady that l am on humira which is a fridge item which can't be taken out of fridge. But still she insisted to bring the medication. She didn't have any knowledge of my conditions nor of medication. That made me very very upset and for a second thought whether vl have made a correct decision to have my surgergy at this hospital. But l told to the nurses and other people in charge who were nice and understanding.Consultant Mehta and anthestist was excellent. But my first impression at 7:30 was very very bad due to this desk lady who escorted me. For a moment l thought to go home without having a treatment. But glad l didn't changed my mind. Never judge book by its cover.desk lady needs to improve her communication skill and more caring for patient.
Rubbish hospital avoid had 9 surgeries for the fistula in four year than I went abroad I took the mri scan form uk and in Pakistan for the surgery . same mri scan which I took it from the uk doctor said eighteen cm but in Pakistani doc said 5. Something which I was bit confused because they have to do the surgery according to the mri scan how far and where they need to go , but anyway they done the surgery and one year gone I’m fine all sorted , my advice if you have gone through lot of surgery , don’t believe these cowboy doctors because if I never went abroad to see another doctor the next thing they said to me in uk doc they will put the stoma bag look like they want to kill me , I had about nine mri scan and have seen couple of doctors in uk my question is all they are blind and they cannot read the scan because the same mri scan in Pakistani doctor give me the different calculations, also the doctor over there told me the thred they put it was also wrong place and he also said they were doing all sort of wrong surgeries . Because in four year so many painful surgeries sometimes I felt like to kill myself but . I can’t not believe what they have done to me .
