The only Catholic Church in Rye😍 is situated on a side road with big welcoming sign inviting to a prayer. I loved beautiful stained glass windows and peaceful, calming atmosphere. I was only sorry that I missed the Easter Sunday mass. Next time.

An exquisite church built in Spanish-Romanesque style. A church of pre-reformation England, the Church of St. Augustine, sent in 596AD to convert the Anglo-Saxons; the Church of St Thomas a Beckett, Archbishop of Canterbury, martyred inside his Cathedral in 1170AD. Everything about this Church reflects the history of the re-emergence of Catholicism after three hundred years of suppression. It is beautiful in every respect with an especially remarkable rood cross and marble altar and surrounds.
