We arrived at six pm on Sunday to discover they were still serving Sunday lunch and thankfully could fit us in. I had Sunday lunch and my husband had pie and chips. The Sunday lunch came with a selection of vegetables which I shared with my husband. The food was plentiful, piping hot, very tasty and good value. We were too full to have a dessert. The pub was quite busy with a warm friendly atmosphere and is frequented by the locals. The lady behind the bar was most helpful and the pub is dog friendly. We have booked to go for Sunday lunch again with friends.
Lovely to see the new owner has breathed some life back into the village pub and the food is excellent!
Outstanding food in a lovely traditional pub. We had the black pudding fritters to start which were done to perfection followed by Seafood platter and Gammon. The platter was massive but each item was lovely. Salmon, mackerel, scampi, cod, prawn cocktail and salad. The plates were so big we had to seat staggered on the table as the plates wouldn’t quite fit
We read the previous feedback prior to the new owners. Disaster.nWith the new owners absolutely amazing. Attention to detail, second to none. We were a family/group of 9 and they made sure everyone was catered for, vegans included. Food tasted fabulous, atmosphere was great.nThe staff were across everything.nIf you don’t visit the Spotted Ox, it will be at your loss.
I have been more than welcomed in this pub. Alex is just amazing and all of his crew is lovely and friendly. Can't find any faults with the place. The food doesn't take long to be cooked and it tasted just amazing, the pub is clean and tidy and its the perfect place to have a chill or a lovely dinner.nnEven if you're not local, like myself, I still would recommed you visit. 10/10 you won't be disappointed
