This restaurant offers a unique ambience if you dine inside their static train coaches. It was like stepping back in time! It also gave a feeling of exclusivity specially if no other customers inside! The food was fine for a Sunday roast and they have a good list of cocktails to choose from. The only thing we struggled with were the silverware, they are not comfortable to use and a bit soft as they get bended easily. Big thumbs up to all the hardworking and lovely ladies who served us that day, including the back of the house who cooked and prepared our food from starters to desserts…
Went in to have a look around. Manager was really lovely and so were the staff. Santa's grotto is lovely. The carriages are brilliant. You half expect to pull.off the station. The food was amazing. I seriously couldn't move afterwards. Not had good pub grub like that for a while. Friendly environment and highly recommend. 3 of us visited Spot Gate Inn on a Saturday late afternoon after learning that it had changed hands back in 2022. One of us was in a wheel chair. They have a large carpark so parking wasn't an issue. Greeted by friendly welcoming staff. We were seated behind the bar area in what they called the snug. A cosy area of the restaurant next to an open fire. A welcome sight in such dismal weather. The menu has all the pub classics which can be seen on the website. It aims to offer good quality pub food nothing too high end which is quite often too high priced also. We had steaks and ham and eggs. All came promptly, hot, cooked well and delicious. To follow we had the classic hot chocolate fudge cake with custard and lemon meringue cheesecake. Sweet and delectable. Good selection of expected drinks on the menu. All round great country pub experience. Dogs also allowed. Accessibility is good considering it's an old stone building that is limited as to how it can be adapted. Highly recommended. Will be returning. Parking: Large car park . Ample parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessibility good for an old stone building. We visited with an electric wheelchair. Staff are very accomodating.
Where is the 6th , wow! Not been for a while but that was fantastic, newly refurbished, happy friendly staff and gorgeous food. Had the lighter meals and they were fresh, tasty and a plate full. The wife managed to save room for a pudding and that was also great not too sickly. The new outdoor area looks great so plenty of space for an outdoor beer.
Just had a lovely meal at The Spotgate Inn, fantastic service, great food and the carriage was a novel addition to a brilliant meal, the new owners are fantastic, we will be coming back! Highly recommend!
Stunning place, lovely food. The staff is very polite and very present. Maybe could do with a little more attention regarding dusting specially around the train carriages.
Fantastic fathers day lunch. We had lunch for 4 from the full menu, we all had 3 courses and drinks cane to just over £100 which is very reasonable I'd say. The food was some of the best we've had, loads of prawns and salmon on prawn cocktail, everything else was amazing. The brisket and belly pork were the best we've ever had. This place well and truly knocks spots off Miller and Carter by a mile; both for price and quality of food. The service was quick and the train carriage where we had our meal was lovely and quiet, really did feel special. Thank you to all the staff
We took our Birthday Boy 11 for a meal last night and the experience was wonderful! From the moment we walked in we were really well looked after by Becky I think, didn’t get the lady’s name but that was on the receipt! She was brilliant from start to finish and really made us welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely and my little boy had a great time! Definitely recommend and we will be back. Thank you Becky. Kid-friendliness: Our two boys were really welcomed and looked after!

We sat in Ursula carriage. The food was beautiful, hot, generous portion sizes and delicious. Four of us ate and we all agreed on great quality and taste. My steak cooked perfectly as requested. Staff were friendly and service was excellent. Would certainly return.
