Took my dogs for a late walk, decided to pick up litter got in my car and went to leave, I had been locked in. I'm 52 and have a blue badge due to disability.I called the council for help to be told if I didn't pay £100 they were not going to help me. Locked in till 6 A.M.nEnough to put U off from ever visiting area.nThe sign was not lit up or reflective so drivers can see it. Obviously no stars from me
For a Sunday, where parking is free, it was pleasing to find a parking place very easily. The Sat nav guided us in. Just as well as it is not easy to negotiate the narrow streets. It is set alongside the River Tyne. The views to the city, adjacent the Baltic Mill and Millennium Bridge are stunning. It is not a view I am familiar with so this was an added bonus. The cafe on site was very busy. We didn't have time to visit this time. One for the future. The car park is particularly handy to locate the Quayside which is only a short walk away.
Despite multiple signs saying free from 6pm-8am they lock your car in overnight. No explanation when you call the council. Be aware of this or avoid this car park all together as it's simply not worth the hassle. Only a very small sign of a laminated A4 page by the entrance that should clearly be more noticeable as something like this is just not common practice.nnIts gone from a free car park to paying for parking to now locking your car in overnight in the span of a year and half.nnIt's embarrassing that no one at the Newcastle city council stood up to the person or people who proposed these useless changes.
Very handily placed car park right on the river and perfect for the quayside. The cycle hub cafe is great! Parking charges are fair, 70p per hour, evenings and weekends free. I could only find one machine and it doesn't take cash, card only. If machine is broken you have to pay by text which I hate, hence one star dropped
I parked just outside of this carpark only because this car park has it's gates locked at 10pm
