First visit, small establishment, staff are welcoming and after pre-booking we were seated straight away. Menu is interesting in that there are a couple of options I haven't seen anywhere else, e.g. one dish being finished with brandy! Food was all delicious, pickle try is the most generous of any restaurant we've been too. Food is all reasonable, mixed lassi was fantastic.
A busy restaurant offering a classic Indian menu cooked with quality ingredients at reasonable prices. The service was very good and welcoming. The seats were comfortable and the restaurant was warm it was raining and cold outside. We will return to try more dishes from the menu.
We had a delicious authentic Indian meal. The portions were generous. The mains were delicious and the naan was clearly freshly made. It was the best Indian food we have had in long time. The staff were friendly and the service was fast. The restaurant was nicely decorated and full of local customers, which is a good sign. We thought it was good value.
We ordered takeaway which was ready quickly. Piping hot by the time we got to our cottage and everything was beautiful. Very impressed that when we asked for spiced onions not knowing this is a Scottish invention the team accommodated and surprised us with their own version! They were amazing, I think probably better than what we've had at home. Thank you! Lovely last supper on our holiday before we head home!
We ordered the chicken tikka biryani and mixed vegetable curry. Unfortunately, the chicken tikka biryani was disappointing. It felt more like chicken fried rice rather than a traditional biryani — it lacked the layered preparation, aroma, and depth of flavour expected from an authentic biryani.nThe mixed vegetable curry also did not taste fresh. The vegetables seemed as though they may have been previously frozen and reheated, as the texture was soft and the flavour was not vibrant or freshly prepared.nIn terms of taste profile, the overall flavour felt more aligned with Bangladeshi-style restaurant cooking rather than what one would expect from an authentic Indian restaurant. While there is naturally overlap between the cuisines, the seasoning and preparation did not reflect the depth and regional character typically associated with traditional Indian dishes.nThat said, compared to many so-called Indian restaurants we have tried across England, this was still comparatively better in overall flavour and standard.nOn a positive note, the service was good. The staff were polite and attentive despite the restaurant being very busy. It may be popular partly because it appears to be one of the few dining options available in the area.nOverall, while the service was satisfactory, the food quality did not meet expectations on this visit.
