I don't mind paying a little bit more when it's a local shop but this place is very over priced. Passed through the other day, you can get wine at a reasonable price but clearly they make up for it in overcharging for every day essentials. This is a prime example of why small businesses fail, if a local tesco express or the like opened nearby they'd be bust in the week. It's called taking your customers for granted. Stock up before you pass through Catherine De Barnes.
Extremely friendly and helpful young man who runs it. Good selection of fresh fruit and veg. You must also try the Indian delicacies from the fridge. Very handy for boaters on the adjacent canal.
Such an expensive village shop. Owner is a miserable bloke with the customer service levels of a hedgehog. Avoid.
