Took the grandchildren on the Santa experience. Really great. Staff were all lovely. Santa had a very Shakespearian voice and the kids were impressed. Train ride was wonderful with lots to look at while they were waiting.
Southend-on-Sea Pier is pretty famous so I always wanted to go. However, since its so hyped, it was somewhat of a let down. Yes you do have a couple of food stalls and a very cute café. But the pier itself isn't really very pretty and I felt like it lacks entertainment for the kids too.
Love this pier. It's the worlds longest pleasure pier. 1.33 miles long. The train ride is great and it's nice to walk back. Not much 'pleasure' on the pier when I went due to the weather but there's a cafe to get a coffee and the lifeboat station at the end. No arcades or much to do for the kids though.
World largest pier not the longest! Its 1.34 mile long. Great place to visit away from the tacky beach front
Lovely little heritage railway. The carriages are not that comfortable, but OK for the journey in either direction. Great if you want to walk down and get the train back. Be watchful of the return times to ensure you are not waiting around in the sun or pouring rain.
