The South Kesteven district is an area of 365 sq m, with a rich mix of changing urban settings and rich countryside and excellent road, rail and air links to the rest of the country. See panel opposite for more information.

Story

SKDC are a local authority serving the residents of South Kesteven which includes four market towns, Grantham, Stamford, Bourne and Market Deeping along with villages in the surrounding areas. We are one of the district's main employers with our head office based in Grantham on St Peter's Hill.

We want to create an environment where vibrant communities want to live, work, visit and invest.

To help us achieve this we have talked to our residents and they have told us what they want us to concentrate on.

This has helped us to take a fresh look at our priorities and re-focus on the things that matter most to local people.

Our vision and values identify how we work and they underpin everything we do.

I would give less stars if I could. Disgraceful attitude and service. No way to get hold of them to discuss the threats they send you through the mail. Never know where you stand with them. Send you a summons notice and then a payment plan agreement dated in the wrong order. Ridiculous, horrible and atrocious lot of employees.
Just moved under SKDC, what a shambles. I prepared photos of all my documents in order to put them through online with the relevant forms. No wouldn't accept it so had no choice but to go in to the council. Customer Services comprises of one poor lady squashed in a corner of the Arts Centre with no photocooier
Absolute shambles. Wish I’d never moved to this area. Maybe if the wasn’t paying bin hitlers they could afford to put the street lighting on!!!!
the staff is disrespectful you have to go around the houses to get to the department you want to speak to about anti social behaviour currently being victimised by the council as me and my partner are getting blamed constantly and the council doesnt seem to anything about anti social behaviour they are even victimsing elderly people as well so the tenancy agreement is lies and the state of the properties are disgraceful waited over a year to get floor board fixed and not all of them are fixed there is no insulation under neath the floor and the tiles are falling off the walls there are a load of cracks around the flat and all the council have to say is we will come back when its opened even more also going back on being blamed we got told by the housing officer covering the area we live in the problems are coming from your flat not anyone elses so stop blaming everyone else because its you i would never go to south kesteven district council about anything ever again
Terrible! 3 years waiting for repairs and still waiting. Urgent repairs not done urgently, left vulnerable family With no hot water for 5 days! take personal information without convent. Complaints process is a shambles and not fair or equal.
I wouldn't even give one star if I didn't have to. Their response to repairs is shocking, it always seems to be the same excuse, no staff...in the meantime tenants are expected to live with damp, mould,water leaks for months. Any consequential damage is left to tenants to repair themselves. There seems to be no commitment to their staff, their tenants, poor poor service all round
My 88 year old mum needed to pay her council tax. Applied for her online weeks ago...no response.Tried to phone the council, waited in a queue for 20 minutes with 'music', then got a ring tone, then they hung up. Utterly disgraceful service
Do not move in areas with this incompetent council!! 0 disrespect, they put the phone down on people who have been staying on hold for hours. They don't deal with complaints about other neighbours or neighbourhood situations. I say the whole of Grantham and the other areas should stop paying council tax and rent to them. that will make them listen
Wasted over an hour in the last two weeks trying to get through to inform leaving Lincolnshire and sorting out Council tax! Endless listening to music which is more hissing than proper sound….being told even at 8.45am that they are experiencing high volumes of calls! Tried twice to use the online facility, but each time I pressed ‘submit’ nothing happened! Fill in the general form on line but have had no response! Will have to visit offices this morning! Hopefully have more luck there! R. Carter
