Loved the food, the wine and the service & ambiance. If I could just say look at the Sirloin cuts - we got a very sinew laden piece on the bone - why not switch to Rib-eye on the bone its got way more flavour and the fat should just melt away : Otherwise Great job, Well done - Mark Allan Dietary restrictions: My Son is a celiac and was well catered for.
It was such a great experience! Our group really went our way to dine at Kudu Grill and we were not disappointed. The ingredients used, you know, are fresh thus making the dish even simple standout. Service was top notch and they really explain well the dishes. No problems at all in calling them for water refills etc. Place was small but very cozy. We enjoyed our dinner for sure!
£29 weekday lunch. Totally worth the value and I left feeling satisfied! I’m usually not a massive fan of panna cotta but the one from Kudu Grill changed my mind. I love the strawberry filling and the meringue added to the panna cotta which gave a bit of crunch.Food: 5/5
Kudu Grill offers a wonderful introduction to the taste of South Africa. The standout for starters was the citrus-cured seatrout, which was well balanced out by the creamy coconut. For main courses, we enjoyed the pork chop in monkey gland sauce which was a delightful blend of sweet, tangy and savoury. My monkfish with cape Malay curry was another highlight, the rich and aromatic curry complimented the tender fish beautifully. We also got the potatoes as a side and worked well with both of the dishes. Finally, for desserts, we tried all 3. While they were all delicious in their own aspect, my personal favourite was the choux bun as it was paired with the fragrant jasmine ice cream. We chose to sit at the bar, and although the seats weren't the most comfortable it was worth it as we got to see the kitchen. The attentive and professional waiters made us happy to be back but it was all of the chef's hard work and dedication to bringing great flavour to every dish that will keep us coming many more times in the future. We left with full stomachs and happy hearts.
I had booked this place in advance of a trip to London, and had high expectations based on positive reviews. The food was mostly very good. We especially loved the tartar and the carrots. Two at the table loved the t-bone with another two preferring the Sirloin. Dessert was outstanding! I do think they can improve on their cocktail menu because they had very little to offer there and for non-wine drinkers at our table the options were limited. Overall great food. What let us down was the service, which actually just ruined the experience entirely. We felt everything was rushed, food thrown on the table and messing due to the rush of the waitress. Courses served way too quickly with no time to digest between courses. Manager shouting at the staff in front of everyone, and lastly been very abruptly booted out because our table was reserved for the next round of people, which wasn’t mentioned anywhere during the booking phase. It just left a very bad taste in my mouth and is not the South African hospitality that I’m used to. Lastly, the music was extremely loud which meant that we couldn’t have a decent conversation throughout dinner. I would not go back, which is a shame because the food was great.
One of the best meals I have had in a long time. We were a table of 4 and tasting each other's dishes. The steak was melt in the mouth and the sauce was so tasty. The poussin had a deep smokey, chared flavour. Every dish was 5 star and I highly recommend.Food: 5/5
We went to Kudu Grill on a Sunday night. We ordered the beef roast with all trimmings and pork chop with wedges cooked in beef dripping. The food was delicious! The pork was tender, tasty, and came with a delicious monkey gland sauce; and the beef was perfectly cooked —highly recommend. But what really made our experience was the manager —Hastings. I would come back purely for the exceptional care he took of us. He was very attentive, checking we were all happy and really made the whole experience worth while. Thank you so much Hastings for a great evening at the Kudu Grill , we will be back to see you and for the great food and atmosphere.
Kudu Grill what can I say.. what an experience. First of all the vibe is really nice, small intimate place with dim lights which really set the tone. I’d recommend to sit with a view where you can see the chefs on the grill The waitress.. WOW she knew that menu back to front, she knew exactly what everything tasted like, she knew exactly what drinks to recommend, we could really sense that she loved where she was working, it was almost overwhelming to see how passionate she was about the food, we loved it. The food.. wow the prawns are to die for, so soft and juicy and the sauce was so punchy. Excellent monkfish and decor. Now the only thing that bothered me was the rib eye, as much as I understand, some meat is meant to be eaten rare I could not even stomach this. Felt like I was chewing for hourssss, the staff were lovely and open to leaving it on the grill for longer but it just wasn’t for me. For reference, you have to order the rib eye for two, ultimately coming to £80. The desert was ‍, that salted caramel was almost too salty but I couldn’t stop eating it All together our food came up to around £200 I’d definitely recommend
Been back again recently. Every bit as good. Phenomenal food, charming service - and, dog friendly. What a great place. Lovely restaurant, excellent food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Not cheap, but you're getting a high quality experience for your money.
Overall it's a unique experience and we enjoyed our dinner. All dishes are nicely designed, they have an excellent wine menu and ambience is cool. Staff was very friendly and timing of the service was to the point. Not so fast, not so slow. We were 3 very hungry people so we ordered a lot knowing that it was a lot of food but had no regrets. I loved the starters, potato flatbread was different than any flatbread I have eaten before. Also loved the grilled prawns and padron peper + labneh combo. We ordered the sirloin steak twice. It was tasty but I think it was the bordelaise that made it a bit too sweet for me. The steak was cooked excellent, I would enjoy it more if it was just simply the steak. I felt the same for beef fat potatoes. I dont know if it was the spice but they tasted too sweet. But definitely recommend them because it's different. I was curious about the hispi cabbage with mushroom xo sauce. It was again different than my expectations. I only had mushroom xo sauce once at a restaurant in Lisbon. This one was different than the one I had it in Lisbon. I didn't see any chunks and sauce tasted like miso to me. It was tasty but really not sure if I it was the hispi cabbage with mushroom xo. But still tasted good. Desserts were amazing. And, lastly, great wine menu. We had a South African Cabernet which was very good.
