Sole Plaice
"Sole Plaice has been established at the same location for over 40 years as a family run business. We take great pride in the products and services we provide. All our fish stems from sustainable sources, in Norwegian or Icelandic waters. Our potatoes are local from Williams' farm in Allet and freshly peeled and chipped every morning through rain or shine.Since opening in 1980, Sole Plaice has been cooking in beef dripping. We believe it gives a far better flavour and texture."

Great Fish and chips best I've had since arriving.Food: 5/5
Honestly the best fish I've ever had! I'm just gutted I'm not local so can't come back as soon as I would like. We ate in the restaurant and the service was amazing - quick and very friendly. My husband is still talking about how great your chops were today. Thank you so much! Kid-friendliness: Staff very friendly towards children. High chair available, baby change facilities available and kids menu
Best fish and chips in our opinion in Cornwall Delicious, plenty chips. And great quality cod Lovely team Great service This is how I get my husband to drive to truro for shopping!! Highly recommended
Best fish and chips in the area, I think, cooked in dripping , proper old school. Staff so nice too!Recommended dishesCod and Chips, Fish and Chips, Mushy Peas
Came to Cornwall for a good fish and chips got charged £21.40 what an absolute joke. Will go back to London and go to my local and get the same, alot bigger for £12. Extremely disappointed, menu prices are completely inflated and the size of the meals are tiny, update the taste is oily yet dry, stale and full of vinegar, small chips, not wholesome, cod batter tastes like chicken shop
Finally gave Sole Plaice a try the first time ever in Truro. After doing some shopping and Visiting the Cathedral to sign the book of condolences for the Queen. I didn't know Sole Plaice had a restaurant, always thought it was purely a takeaway. After looking it up in Google Maps, thought I'd give them a try. Friendly welcome on arrival and found a table in the restaurant area. Surprisingly big area on two floors only the ground floor was open Ordered the regular cod and chips, two fishcake and chips, two portions of thick crusty bread, hot chocolate and a coke. This came to just over £21 , which was very good value for money. Once the order was taken the food arrived within 5 minutes all hot and freshly cooked to order. The chips were very tasty and chrispy. The cod was probably one of the best I've ever had. Beautiful large flakes of cod. Batter nice and chrispy. Not greasy at all. The fish cakes were again apparently the best that had been eaten in ages. I will definitely be returning to Sole Plaice in Truro. Definitely Pleased I found them. Well done for the amazing food
Very disappointed £31 for large cod 4 small sausage 2 cheesy chips and 4 small curry sauce and small peas the fish was dry the batter burnt the sausage and chips was just about warm curry sauce watery won't be going again
Used the restaurant part - fast, friendly service. A shame that the cod and chips I had at lunchtime was a bit dry and bland, possibly as it could've been sitting under the hot lamps for a while, rather than been freshly cooked. I might give them another go next time I'm on holiday, but would wait for freshly cooked food.
Beautiful freshly cooked fish and chips ,highly recommend this shopFood: 5/5
i visited this chip shop today and the food that i had was absolutely stunning! me and my family all had battered cod and chips i had a small and my parents had the regular and we all couldn’t stop talking about how nice the food was. the chips weren’t dry or too greasy; they were absolutely perfect - and don’t even get me started on the fish! the staff were also very very nice and the service was quick! the one critique i will say though is that for one pound more i would go for the regular portion instead of the small as it’s only a few chips difference. 10/10 would recommend
