Story

Smith & Wollensky has been serving up what is without doubt the finest steak in America since it first opened its doors in New York in 1977. After winning the heart of the Big Apple, those award-winning steaks were soon to be found all across the States, from the windy city of Chicago to the hot sands of Miami Beach.Smith & Wollensky launched its first London site in the historic Grade II-listed Adelphi Building just off the Strand and offers a selection of signature USDA prime dry-aged steaks and premium seafood, alongside award-winning wines and classic cocktails.

This place is really nice. The food is excellent and the whole atmosphere conveys quality. If you want a nice lunch or drinks in the evening, this is somewhere to consider. The reason for the 4* is that the mark-up is too much. We had wine that was £139 there, but is £35 for exactly the same bottle at Strictly Wine. They also add a 15% service charge, so the bill is much higher than it should be.
The experience was an excellent dining experience, service was excellent, our waiter in particular was very friendlysorry, didn't get his name but he was Spanish I hope you know who you are, my family and I had a wonderful night and the service provided was excellent. Despite us having a very sick baby with us, the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend S & W if you want fine quality food with excellent service. A real treat. Thank you to the staff and our Spanish waiter in particular. You really tried to make Xena smile, but unfortunately, she was just feeling very unwell and sick last night. But if she wasn't, you would've made her smile and laugh lots.

Having eaten in Smith& Wollensky New York and had the best experience I was worried London would not meet our expectations!! Wow!!! my wife and myself were treated like a King & Queen, nothing was too much trouble, the food was amazing and cooked to perfection. I tell everyone about the Ribeye Steak I had in New York and how it was the best I’ve ever had, now I can say just go to London. After visiting S&W in Vegas, we decided to try somewhere closer to home so hopped on the train to London. Warm greeting and impeccable old school service throughout. Decent drinks menu with great variety and prices to suit most budgets. Beautifully decorated, giving art deco vibes. The steak tartare, pea soup and home made bread were all exceptional. The fillet steak and pork shoulder were excellent too as were the sides of creamed potato, truffle Mac n cheese and mixed vegetables. Sadly the sirloin steak and the onion rings were way too over seasoned with salt, which was disappointing. However, this would not deter me from returning in the future. They offer a fixed price lunch menu as well as a la carte. Very enjoyable experience and I would love to return.
I recently had the pleasure of dining with my family at this delightful steakhouse located in the heart of London, offering an exceptional brasserie-style experience. From the moment we walked in, the welcoming ambiance and attentive service set the tone for an unforgettable meal. The menu is a testament to culinary excellence, offering a diverse selection of starters, mains, and sides that cater to all tastes. For starters, we indulged in the fresh and flavorful burrata with heirloom tomatoes and a delicate balsamic reduction. Another standout was the classic onion rings, rich and comforting. The main courses are the true stars of the show. I opted for the signature ribeye steak, cooked to perfection with a beautiful char and tender, juicy center. My dining companion chose the fillet mignon, which was equally impressive, boasting a melt-in-your-mouth texture and exquisite flavor. The accompanying béarnaise and mushroom sauces elevated the steaks to another level of deliciousness. The sides are just as impressive as the mains. We couldn't resist the yummy baked potatoes, the sautéed spinach with garlic and chili offered a light and flavorful contrast, while the hand-cut fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Overall, this steakhouse delivers on every front, from the warm and sophisticated brasserie atmosphere to the impeccable service and outstanding food. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a top-notch dining experience in London.
Dinner with family a group of 4. The food and restaurant ambience are very good. Just one thing to point out that all staff members should be fully trained as one of the team member who served us is not professional at all and made us all had hard feeling. As we had late lunch and we are still a bit full, decided to order 3 starters, 2 mains 600g chateaubraind and 400g sirloin and a bottle of wine. When we placed the order, the waitress was not happy we didn’t ordered each person a starter and a main which I don’t think it is a must, looked at us with a contemptuous eyes and left. When the chateaubraind came, waitress cut them to 6 slices in front of us and said ‘it’s just a small portion like this not sure can share with 3 people’. And when the sirloin came we ordered in medium rare but it looks like a medium, we asked the waitress came to check and she confirmed with her notes again which we ordered correctly replied she think it’s a medium rare and took the dish away, few minutes later, a manager came to us and told us that is definitely not a medium rare and will cook a new one for us. At the end the manager waive us the steak, and the desserts, but when we pay the waitress showed the receipt to us and said ‘Your steak didn’t charged I think it’s a good deal.’ As a famous and high quality steakhouse the staff attitude and can’t identify food maturity which is very unprofessional. Not adding too much personal opinion would be great.
Delicious! So not scrimp get the USA Meats! I'm pregnant so didn't get a steak as I would have it medium rare under normal circumstances, so didn't waste the money this time round but my finance for the USA bone in rib eye! OMG! So worth the price he has it well done urghhhh and was still melt in the mouth! Great place!Food: 5/5
This is a traditional upscale American type steakhouse. The meat is of excellent quality and the service team has some potential to improve their customer focus and attentiveness. The wine list offers a great choice of relatively highly priced produce.Food: 5/5
We were here last time almost 8 years ago. It was a good experience then and again now. The food was excellent. Sea bass was well cooked and crispy. The meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. The food was salted correctly. Cheesecake and berries for dessert was really good. Waiters were polite, positive and were taking care of you the whole time. We love this restaurant, their food and the atmosphere.
