Not easy to get there as it was raining a lot and one road was flooded. But I am glad we found another route. We went for the roast and that was fantastic. The "small portion" had just about as much food as the normal portion and for around £7 no Yorkshire pudding and you have to choose between pork, chicken or beef.
Great little pub with friendly staff in a good location and decent play park for the kids. Pub food was good too! We camped in the campsite field behind which was cheap and had electric hookups, however there is nowhere to wash up pots and pans etc and no showers. You can however use the pub toilets when it's open often from quite early in the morning. Probably more suitable for caravan and motorhome visitors because of the lack of camping facilities, but still a great spot, especially if you're only staying for a night or 2 and don't not having a shower or don't plan on cooking your own meals.
Had dinner here. Both had chicken in a Madeira sauce with sauce potatoes and veg. Very tasty. Caroline looked after us and was very friendly and attentive.
I've never been served an expensive pub meal on a Styrofoam plate before. The food was expensive and very average, my sons creamy pasta was inedible. The only saving grace was the beautiful scenery and the brilliant children's play area.
Had a lovely meal here, all freshly cooked. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Lovely pub.
A favourite walk in New Forest. D day connections v interesting. Great cafe to start or end. Pay parking at booth.
Popped in for a meal while camping, something we never usually do. I have to say, the ethos of having a small menu but doing the food well really works here. Sometimes pubs have issues getting the simplest meals right, battered fish swimming in oil, soggy chips. But the Cod and chips we had here was one of the best we'd eaten, crispy batter and the twice cooked chips were amazing. Well done to the staff and the chef, we'll be back soon
Great place to stop and unwind. They have a lot of outdoor seating and you can order food from your table. No apps just real people. The food is great, it takes a while but that's not a criticism as it's prepared fresh. Sit back, enjoy a drink and the lovely views. I found the picnic benches outside were not comfortable after 30 minutes , so if you have a numb bum you may need to relocate.
I’ve been meaning to say thanks to the staff that helped me seat my elderly father, and allowing us to move tables. We had such a wonderful meal, I couldn’t fault the whole experience but I’m especially grateful for your compassion. I hope you all have a great Christmas!
Lovely food. Pie that was a proper pie. Not stew with a pastry lid... Chicken fricassee was as good. And a waitress who didn't hassle but showed up at the perfect time. Definitely somewhere we'd go back to.
