Tony's Frying Machine, a mobile fish and chips van, serves assorted fried fish, hot dogs, and fruit at the Royal Oak on Saturdays with live music under an outdoor tent. The fish is fresh and the batter is light and fried to perfection. Service is quick and friendly. Judging by the people who were there, this seems to be a favorite amongst locals and families.
A fabulous forest pub, great selection of beers and the food is amazing ploughman. Friendly staff and a open fire, with plenty of room in an adjacent garden and gazebo. A must visit after a walk through the new forest at Fritham
Had a lovely Friday haddock fish n’ chips pub lunch here. Everything was super fresh and high quality, loved the proper old English pub vibe would definitely come back if I was close by again. Whilst eating, new forest horses would wander through the parking lot. Idyllic!
We went here today as a bank holiday treat and it did not disappoint. It was very busy as we expected but we found a table in the garden in the sunshine. We ordered 2 ploughman's, one with gammon and one with cheddar so we could share and try both and they were both delicious!! There was a little bit of a wait for food because it was busy but not ridiculously long and it was such a lovely setting we didnt mind. We will definitely be going back there again
Delicious ploughman's. Nice to see kids meals on the menu. Daughter had a decent sized tuna roll. All the bread we had was lovely fresh baked rolls. Service was quick.
Little gem in the Forest. Ploughmams fabulous peacefull in the garden with plenty of personal space between seating. Just lovely and relaxing in the sunshine
Warm friendly pub, I had a fantastic Stilton cheese ploughman's accompanied by a lovely beer I would recommend a visit
Just had a delicious lunch at The Royal Oak in the New Forest. The quality of their assortment of Ploughman’s is top class, wonderful ham, Pork pie, cheddar cheese, beautiful fresh salad with pickled slices of onions, veg and the Stilton on the side we ordered just made it exceptional. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, from the Bar man who poured our pints to the lovely lady who took her time to explain where the produce comes from. The food arrived very quickly from smiling waiting staff. We sat outside in their lovely spacious garden. Pub Landlords should take a leaf out of their book, this is how a proper English pub should be, selling top quality local produce at its finest, not Thai, Pizza, curry, frozen microwave stuff!! It really isn’t difficult, if I lived nearer I definitely would be a loyal customer bringing lots of custom, until the next time Royal Oak keep up the great work and thank you
Nice spot for a pint after a walk or a picnic style lunch. The food boxes were delicious and were generous portions. Good range of options all served with a base salad and coleslaw. Loads of picnic benches outside, some in shade to sit out. Seating atm is all outside.
Friendly staff as well as being dog friendly, good selection of ploughman's, lovely food
