I stumbled upon the tomb whilst passing, you should too. An incredible tomb located in a small urban grave yard. Definitely worth the trip... oh and don't miss climbing the short ladder to the rear for a peak inside, fascinating.
Fascinating ‘tent tomb’ with a window you climb a little ladder to catch sight of the elaborate interior
Extraordinary to find such a lifelong journey ending in a quiet corner of Sheen. A remarkable tomb that needs a good clean inside
This, to be fair, is just a tomb where two people have been laid to rest, but the look and design is nothing I have ever seen as a tomb anywhere before. It is fairly striking in it's appearance, as it has an Arabic travel tent look, that encapsulates the character of the owner Sir Richard Burton, who was definitely a character in himself and someone worth reading more about in detail. The rear of the tomb provides a ladder up to allow the visitor viewing access inside the tomb. Don't worry about seeing anything gruesome inside, as all that is visible are trinkets and such.
If you go to the back of the tomb there is a ladder that you can climb and look inside. It is indeed a macabre site. It will give you a the hibby jibbies.
It is a very interesting to look inside richard burton's tent tomb
Beautiful story about an unique personality. Note the recent graves, the age of nearby churches and try donating a few pounds by scanning QR code near the entrance.

A fascinating Catholic churchyard full of monuments for people from all over the countiry Burton's tent is most interesting and by carefully climbing the ladder on the back one can see the coffins inside. Apparently on his deathbed he was converted to Catholicism at the request of his wife.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
