Inexpensive and close to most places in the city. Setting up the app especially in the cold, is a faff and you will need your bank card the first time. So, allow yourself plenty of time. I found it easier to go straight to Google play and type in NCP in the search. The QR code access is confusing. Once you're set up it's easy. I paid £1.50 an hour. Might be worth setting it up before you get there, then click on the icon when you've parked.
Could tell it was busy but had to drive in to find a space or not - it's ANPR so not sure if there's a grace period to drive around and find a spot? I couldn't see any info on that on the signage. But managed to jump in a spot as someone was leaving. Gravel parking spaces, tarmac roads, spaces decent size if people park straight but lines/space markings are not easily seen in the dark/low light.
This car park is a convenient option if you need quick access to the city centre without too much hassle. It's usually easy to find a space, and the layout is straightforward. The area feels secure with decent lighting, and payment is simple using the app or machines. Prices are fair for the location, though they could be a bit better for longer stays. It's not fancy, but it gets the job done efficiently. Overall, a reliable and practical place to park when you're in town—just what you'd expect from a 4-star experience.
The future sucks... I had the joy of using this app-only car park - I watched several people gathered around the instruction signage looking frustrated... I was unable to get past the login page of the app, it simply did nothing, regardless of what buttons I pressed. After reinstalling I was able to proceed. An old-fashioned pay machine would've been much faster and simpler!nnThe car park is simply on top of a building foundation, it's a crude surface and doesn't have clear markings in some areas. It's quite full during the day but I've always managed to find a space.nnBe warned that the payment machines on the footpath opposite are for the council parking bays, not the NCP car park, do they put up signs to warn you of this? Of course not, why would they?! ;.nnIf it wasn't for their good value hourly rate I'd probably park somewhere else.
Can only buy a ticket via an app. So if you don't have the hundreds of parking apps already on your phone, you have to try download it, add all details, card details and wait for an email to verify it all. Just bring back machines where you can use card and coins.nPoorly kept
