This will be the last time to have hotpot in this brand. What an awful experience!!! The reason why I had hotpot owing to I expected to have better quality of the ingredients. This is the third time I had hotpot in this restaurant twice in London and this is the worst hotpot ever in my life. The service is moderate, London is worse. The hotpot base had no flavour what so ever. Extra spicy is extra chilly powder that’s horrible!!!!. No natural spices aroma. Definitely not authentic Chinese hotpot. Ruined my appetite. Self sauce section: many had out of stock, the missing fruits they couldn’t border the fill it up. You ended up pay for the same but had less. Ingredients: hotpot is all about fresh ingredients and base. Unbelievable, they had used the ingredients I would ever eat. I didn’t touch much about meat. Its colour freaked me out. Perhaps during the New year they couldn’t stock fresh one. However, I wouldn’t expect they serve that kinda stuff on the table where to low down their standards. I might’ve overrated the brand. That was a mistake. This is a way to destroy a customer’s loyalty. I am done with it.
Shu Xiang Ge Hot Pot have a delicious selection of hotpot ingredients with a clean, modern atmosphere. To order, you would need to choose your toppings by filling in a sheet that was given. The food served were enjoyable and easy to cook in the pot. They have a variety of soup bases, cooked dishes, steamed and raw for the hotpot. Portions were mediocre, some were more than others, if you are coming in a bigger party of 4+ then I recommend to get 2x of each dish or more than usual. The staff here all assumed we were able to speak Chinese. Therefore, there was a lot of confusion. I find that many Chinese restaurants in Chinatown all assume that, or places like Thai or Vietnamese do not. I had to ask the waiters a few times or repeat my words for them to understand. However the staff were friendly and welcoming! I was amazed by the interior and especially in the room past the bathroom. They have stunning backgrounds and brightly lit - family friendly. I found it cool that they have napkins in a drawer at the side of the table, for self service and 2 charging ports this does not work however. The area was spacious with a trolley to hold sauces and order dishes - this would greatly help the spacing of the table which many restaurants do not do. Additionally, this place only accepts cash and it may be pricey, check their menu and prices outside before entering! Queues are long!
A step down from the comprehensive experience and service given at Haidilao, but we chose to go to this spot as the wait there as it is on any weekend, may have nearly been 2 hours. It’s table service only for the hot pot, which must be chosen off a menu, and there is no bar for the sauces, which must be ordered in advance. But otherwise - a very decent hot pot, good quality of lamb and beef especially, loved the mushroom selection and egg noodles too. The broths were nicely flavoured and we opted for the choice of three: tomato, pork broth, and beef tallow - nicely flavoured and absolutely perfect for the cold weather. Loses a star due to slightly high price for lacklustre service, as has been commented before.
Very good location ! Beef and other meat is good ~ but price not really reasonable Food isn’t bad but small portions… very expensive ! Sauce need to pay extra… it is really bad seat is a bit narrow Cause haidilao is booking booking … so had to come here … Not too bad ! If you don’t budget issues , it might be good choice :
Not sure what happened with others' experiences, but we had an amazing time. We did go on a Monday night so it wasn't crazy busy all the tables were filled but there wasn't a long wait/queue. Soup bases were delicious and the range of ingredients was decent, including more traditional items like duck tongue, beef tendon/stomach, blood pudding etc as well as standard meats, mushrooms, veggies etc. If you're not already familiar with hot pot, you will have the standard table with a small trolley on one side for the ingredients you order, various sauces, a little drawer with napkins, and access to the temperature control if the soup starts boiling too much. Drink options include boba, standard soft drinks, juices, generously portioned tea of various types, and wine. Staff were efficient, polite, attentive, and not intrusive. We did bring cash as we read the other reviews, but the card machine was working when we were there. Overall, delicious food, great service, and a really positive experience. We'll be going back again in the future.
The hot pot was delicious, they have a huge variety of different meat, seafood and vegetables to choose from. The staff was super attentive and took care of our needs very quickly. I think the prices are fair compared to other hot pot restaurants and their hot pot soup is probably the best I’ve ever tried! It seems to be a very popular place as it was busy and you could feel the buzzing atmosphere :
Not the best hot pot I had and definitely not worth the price but it wasn’t bad. Just very average and sauces are also pretty limited compared to other places. Pretty much paying to eat in China Town.
This restaurant is a really bad one, bad food and bad survices. We came for dinner around 7:30pm, when we sat down, we had to wait for ten minutes but no one gave us the menu. We had to ask for it. we ordered hot pot soup and 4 topping, but the guy, I guess he was a manger asked us to order one more topping. To our suprised as the menu did not limited how much of minimum you have to order. We thought, it would be ok to order more. When the food came, its quality was too bad, especially beef, taste like it was nearly rotten. The meat topping and fish topping were unfresh. Each topping we ordered came with very small portions but with cutting throat price. The service was too aweful, as I mentioned, we sat down for ten minutes, no one gave us menu, we had to ask for it. All staff looked very indifferent, tired. they always stayed away from you, look like, they were afraid if they glance at you, you will ask them for something. At our table, the sauce was emtied, we had to ask for it. No one bothered to check on us, everytime I need something, I need to look for them, and they do it very indifferently. We ended up with a bill of 63 pounds for two people with the trash service and foods. Needed to mention that they charged 12.5% of value of the meal for their service. How funny is it. My advice for you is that stay away from this restaurant to protect your money and your health.
Warning: a bit overpriced. You're paying a premium basically for the privilege of eating at chinatown. Seating/aesthetic of the place isnt great. Other than that though, the food was nice, service was fast and the staff polite. We had a good time.
Mid-High end hot pot place, a bit more expensive than ordinary hot pot restaurant, but they have better and fresher ingredients. One of the best part is on the drink menu, you can order bubble tea from Hefaure, normally there is a long queue in front of Hefaure, but if you order here, it is same price without queue. Highly recommend their spicy braised dishes. You can eat it without put in the hot pot. Also, if you want to make tomato and egg rice, just order tomato soup base, and ask waiter to bring fresh egg and rice. Maybe also some spring onion. Crack the egg into the tomato soup base, you will make the best hot pot rice topping. Btw, the price is about £50 per person, if you order special ingredients, such as wagyu beef and Iberico pork, it can easily get to £80 per person.
