There is loads going on at the centre. You are welcome to just pop in for a coffee or stay for the day - visiting the Secret Hills exhibition, exploring Onny Meadows, taking part in an activity.

Brilliant place to come with a family.  Free parking and easy to find, just off the A49.  Indoor area has a shop, toys and books for kids to play with along with a room full of Lego and other creative play opportunities, so if the rain starts there's plenty to do. Outside there are walks for all ages and abilities.  Nice play area and place for picnics too. There is a super canteen serving lovely food of a high quality. The only negative point is that because the canteen is staffed mainly by older volunteers, service can become slow when busy.  Also, I believe the inside of the centre is not dog friendly, which is a bit of a shame when so many people must come here to walk their dogs. The pub next door is though, and serves food as well as drinks.
Overall this place is great when the weather is good enough for a walk, and is free/very reasonable in terms of price. What makes it great (especially in the country) is that it has stuff to do for free indoors as well, which is fab when you have small children and don't fancy the horror of soft play on a rainy day.

Interesting museum with several activities for the children. Reasonably-priced food in the restaurant and beautiful, muddy walks which the children loved. The only complaint that I have is not connected with the staff or volunteers who run the centre but with the dog owners who walk there. Despite the fact that there are bins provided for dog mess, there was an awful lot of it about. It was bad enough that it was on the paths, but there was also a great deal in the children's play areas. This meant that it was difficult to allow the children to play freely, one had to be constantly checking for 'poo'. I am a dog lover (I currently own 7 rescued dogs) but I don't like seeing their mess everywhere. Dog walkers here need to clean up their act. A possible suggestion to consider would be to ban dogs from the play areas.

We very much enjoyed our visit. The £5 per adult entry cost for the mammoth exhibition lasts all day (as long as you don't lose your sticker), but if you don't want to pay the rest of the discovery Centre is free. The cafe serves a wide variety of home cooked style meals and snacks, generous portions, main meal for £10, cream tea £4.95, desserts £4.50. Enough to keep all ages occupied for a couple of hours. Some lovely local walks as well.

An interesting visit to the centre. It explained about the landscape and historical fauna and inhabitants. The film gave a good grounding in the key sites in the area as well. There is a well stocked shop with a wide range of interesting things to buy. The cafe is very convenient and stocked a good range of things to tempt you. Unfortunately it had been raining and the paths around the meadow were a little wet.

It's free! It's educational. It's nature. It's relaxing. It's for adults and kids alike. It's wheelchair friendly. It's dog friendly. It has a good place for snacks, drinks, homemade cakes, etc. And finally, it has a great gift shop with local goodies. Enjoy :)
