Learned today that shrews like to bury things and that’s why this town is called this.nnGot over my fear of trains
Simple gorgeous station building of this beautiful town. It's like a castle with a lot of details. Good staff and good service from this station. Clean station, long platforms and having a big parking in front of station for cabs and short stay for pick and drop. Anyhow all I liked this station.
Such a beautiful town in the heart of Shropshire plenty of things to do loads of Grade Listed Buildings Beautiful River Servern Would highly recommend a visit to Shrewsbury:
As a major transportation hub connecting the West Midlands and Wales, the station serves both regional and long-distance train services. The station opened in 1848, playing a crucial role in the expansion of the railway industry and contributing significantly to the economic development of the region. It has served as an important rail link between Wales and the English interior, facilitating the transportation of mining and agricultural products. Designed by Thomas Penson, the station building is constructed in a Gothic Revival style, based on Elizabethan architecture, and is renowned for its historic and picturesque exterior. What makes this building unique is that between 1899 and 1903, an additional level was constructed beneath the original station building, expanding the station's capacity in an unusual manner.
This was a beautiful station for both arrival and departure, set in a historic building with a vintage design all around! The departure boards keep times updated, platforms are well sized for trains and staff were readily available. Stairs lead properly out to the exit through subway, signs help navigate and cleanliness had been enforced!
