"A newly restored industrial mill and former maltings that has been transformed and rejuvenated with a new visitor experience, café, shop, offices and venue space.Situated just outside Shrewsbury town centre, the internationally important Flaxmill Maltings site reflects a time when Shropshire led the way in engineering. The site is home to eight special buildings each with a unique story to tell, including the 1797 Main Mill which is the grandparent of skyscrapers."

An interesting insight into past industrial heritage but I found the interpretive space lacking in detail and the audio-visual presentation was just light and noise, it would have been more meaningful with some explanation. The cafe is nice but over emphasis on vegan food in my opinion. Despite the size of the building only the cafe and exhibition space is open so no real experience of the size and scale of industrial past.
Great restoration, brings back many memories of when my father worked here in the 50's. Loved the cafe & museumVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
We called in at the Flaxmill one Sunday afternoon for coffee and found it modern, airy and colourful.Plenty of choice of seating in the cafe as well as a good choice of cakes, coffees and hot food. The staff were helpful and looked to be enjoying the whole new experience. There are two entrances into the cafe, front and back and you can also enter the museum from here. The carpark is huge but unfortunately it's a bit of a hike from the rear of the premises and difficult to find .We parked on the main road.
Came here for the Drawn market and had a lovely time, food was really good. I did see they offered tours and had other building but due to time constraints I did not see them. Free parking on site that also offered charging.
An opportunity to catch up on history. The first "sky scraper" in the world. Fascinating exhibits and an excellent cafe. Everything about the place is first class!
Excellent interpretation throughout. More than several hours of artifacts, reading, video, interactive displays. First class cafe and toiletsVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
It’s was a wonderful experience to discover the history of the building with plenty of information. One of the volunteers Michael was very helpful, knowledgeable and cheerful and interesting to chat to. The cafe was delightful with some lovely options and amazing cakes and coffee. It was wonderful to finally see the building up close after all these years. Looking forward to when the guided tours begin in April. Definitely would recommend a visit.
Small but interesting display of the mills history and a nice little vegetarian restaurant doing basic but freshly made food.
Great coffee shop, gift shop was get small and we didn't visit the exhibition as it was only about the building itself, it's not an art exhibition. Great event space so looking forward to the upcoming 'Drawn' event!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
