Excellent friendly service from Natalie, a thoroughly lovely barmaid who helped me choose a lovely Pink Gin with Rhubarb & an aromatic tonic, and Elliw who promptly took our order & served us very politely.....our starter of Pil Pil Tiger Prawns in chilli oil were lovely, as was my Fish Pie....really tasty!....accompanied by real chips & 3 great veg.....Johns main of Chicken Pie & chips & veg was equally tasty & we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals & time at this great pub! Lovely atmosphere & the other young lady that brought our dog treats & made us feel more than welcome, was such a pleasure to meet too! I'm sorry I didn't catch her name. All in all a lovely belated night out for our 42nd Wedding Anniversary which was on 4th October! Thankyou everyone & our kindest wishes to you all for the future xx
A really superb Saturday night meal. Friendly and attentive staff. Good food. Busy and nice atmosphere. Not a complaint but the pie was hotter than the face of the sun but still tasty.
Called in on the off chance of getting a table after having booked a table at a nearby pub only to be offered a table near to the outside door in the walkway and next to the coffee machine. Ship very accommodating obtained a table for two and we both had an excellent meal. So much so we have booked again for this Thursday.
First time here, what a lovely restaurant. Exceptionally friendly staff and on point with drink top ups. Very well setup for the "Pandemic" Good selection of Lagers, ciders and wines! Varied menus from 12oz Ribeye steaks right to Greek inspired Lamb Tzatziki and feta burgers! Nice out door setup with private huts. Dogs were welcomed outside, can't say about indoors. Toilets nice and tidy. Cannot fault the establishment at all. Whole heartedly recommend a visit!
First time visit for me and what a what a food experience. Had the Welsh Rib eye steak.. Absolutely fantastic..medium rare and was perfect throughout. Thank you for such a lovely evening.
We booked a table at the Ship for two nights as it was very local to where we were staying and previously we have really enjoyed both the food and service we received... however on this occasion the food was still good quality but the service and front of house was nonexistent. We received no welcome whatsoever when we walked in and at no point did the manager move from his bar stool and pint of lager! He looked to be having more fun with his friends than welcoming his guests. The pub was clearly understaffed as the waitress's were working really hard and the bar man looked stressed out yet still the manager sat drinking his pint ? Again I must stress that the food was excellent and the staff were working really hard to provide a service but the front of house and basic welcome needs to improve if the ship wants to stay afloat.
Booked a meal out with family there were 13 of us. Food was amazing, although my sister in law had steak and reported that it was decidedly "average". Only gave 4 stars as table service left a lot to be desired. Tables not cleared between courses; beers and soft drinks being delivered to the table and then 5 minutes later we had to prompt a waitress to bring the bottle of wine that we ordered and could see was still sat on the bar; had to interrupt waitress for second drinks order, etc.
We've always had great food and service until this Tuesday. Service was quite slow then 2 starters we wanted weren't available so we had to choose alternatives very quickly. Two of us had the lamb main course which was tough and fatty. We were only served chips which were dried up. New potatoes would have been preferable. The veg weren't cooked enough either. Our waitress was lovely but it was obvious they were short staffed which is understandable at the moment but the restaurant wasn't full. Such a shame as it has put us off returning.
Brilliant pub restaurant where they have really taken the initiative after the covid lockdown. Food and service are very good and it's a great place to visit.
Lovely friendly staff, and the food was Lovely would definitely recommend .
