Brilliant pub - friendly staff clean and great setting slightly overpriced food but it is good quality & you’re paying for the view. £4.50 for small bowl of chips but they were great! Bar staff that can actually pour a decent pint as well Just leave that cold one there
A great place for an overnight stay. The staff were very friendly and made a huge effort for an outdoor evening of football watching too. Had a good meal at a fantastic price too. 5* from us & thanks to the team at the Ship Inn.Food: 5/5
Good food, acceptable service, simply long to come as I guess the pub was quite full on a Friday’s night. Fish adult portion was over so I took a tajine instead.. Suprised as very spicy not written in the Menu but was very good nevertheless. The kid enjoyed his fish & ships. The berverages were excellent cider, fruit juices.
You won't get better service anywhere else around here.....the staff are actually extremely friendly, they make you feel like you are worth a million dollars......we came quite late for dinner without a booking and were served promptly and without any rush or pressure....we even got to order our dessert....we had the pie with mash and were not disappointed. Visited the pub 3 days in a row, on the first one the Guinness was only ok. On the next two days the black stuff was right on point. Would definitely come back for more. Ps. Fish platter almost defeated my big appetite but I managed to finish it in the end
Staff were friendly and the service was quick despite it being fairly busy. However, it's my first and last visit due to the food quality summed up as "over priced and inadequate". My son's burger, albeit a child's meal, was tiny. He's not that old but was disappointed with it. My pie was ok, but a stingy portion of veg with it, not worth £17 by a long way. Oh and £7.15 for a pint of Beaver Town. No thanks.
We have driven past this place over the years when we have stayed in hayling island but never went in, just rang on the off chance to book a table and was in luck, the food was lovely and the waitresses were very attentive, would throughly recommend having dinner here, we were upstairs and had great views of the seaFood: 5/5
Lovely pub, great setting - worth going just to see the views. Let down by very average food. The roast didn’t seem fresh, everything very average and bland for ~£22. I’d still go back as everything else about it was brilliant but hopefully we got the kitchen on a bad dayFood: 3/5
We had a lovely visit to the Ship Inn on Friday evening. The first thing we noticed was how lovely the pub looks from the outside with the lights and the harbour. It's definitely a favourite for locals as the beer garden was full and despite having quite a big car park we did struggle to park we waited for someone to leave. When arriving we realised we had booked the table for the wrong date but the staff were very helpful and found us a table anyway. The food was delicious- the soft shell crab burger on the specials is definitely something I would recommend. The atmosphere in general was great, a lot of buzz about the rugby world Cup there and the staff were great. It's dog friendly with treats on the side and a good selection of drinks available. We would definitely return.
Unfortunately I have to say it was disappointing, the pub itself is gorgeous and has a nice atmosphere. However the food was below par. We had Sunday roast, we waited about 40 minutes to receive the food, half the roast came out 5 minutes before the other half so we had to sit waiting whilst our food got colder. The family who had beef roasts were pleased with them but my chicken was undercooked, pink and chewy texture so I left it. The potatoes were bland as was the rest of it. It was also very expensive, for food and drinks. We didn't stay for dessert. The ferryboat inn knocks the socks off this place. Can't really comment on service as we went to the bar ourselves it wasn't table service for drinks and there wasn't much communication from servers whilst serving the food either. Didn't realise there was a service charge added to bills until I read other reviews Parking: Very busy car park as also non pub customers park there to go crabbing or walks along the shore. Family member is disabled so had to drop them off and park 5 minutes away in a layby and walk up
Absolutely wonderful place! I can highly recommend. The view was outstanding. There was live music on the Friday evening so a great atmosphere but still able to talk upstairs where we had our meal. Food was excellent - I had the trout, and it was wonderful. Fairly limited vegetarian choice - a vegetable tagine or Greek salad but plenty of fish if you are pescatarian. Definitely worth a visit . Great atmosphere. Lovely staff.
