One of the best time in my life i had here. Especially the professors are great. Just you need to have zeal to get good score. They will be available at any time. I dont know how many times i knocked my Head of engg department door to get very good score on the project and complete the project with accuracy. This is my graduation ceremony photo
"This is where I pursued my education 20 years ago, and it's also the first city I landed in upon arriving in the UK. Returning today, it's a nostalgic journey filled with memories – everything feels so familiar. Proud to be an alum of Sheffield Hallam University! Wishing SHU continued success and growth!"
Not sure won’t be moving courses elsewhere to another Uni, as the timetable is a total joke. 8 hours one day, which has 5 hours of breaks and then 2 hrs dotted every other day. Plus, I have to get an evening job and the course is until 7pm, making it impossible not to lose attendance points! And it changes week by week. One class we had done the work within an hour and were meant to wait in class another hour, yet did nothing extra. Some of us have buses and trains to catch and would help them alot if allowed to go, especially if nothing else to do for the class. Was just pointless sat there playing games on phone. We all complained of times and breaks, but nothing is done! Ridiculous. I would say do not come here, as first impressions are dire at the moment. And it is not getting better! There are many of us looking elsewhere already!
The beautiful town of Sheffield, large, expansive, a thoroughly modern city. I visit regularly, about £6 return on the train from wakefield I use the supertramp free.the Centre of Sheffield is surprisingly fresh, the town hall is a beauty by itself, likewise the cathedral, I often visit Hillsborough to the north of the city centre, and return in the early afternoon to visit the art gallery and the winter gardens, if you're looking for a spot of lunch, I would just go to the moors market᜵within the market are about 12 different food outlets, they are not expensive, entire area is very friendly.
Do not come here, current student at the university studying a postgraduate course. The university is more interested in borrowing huge sums building new buildings and facilities that they can’t afford instead of offering good teaching and courses. The huge amount of good tutors and lecturers leaving the university can testify to that. What they offer prior to the course has not been honoured so they will lie to get you through the door. I am a disabled student and the disabled student support is an absolute joke and you have to go to a third party for your DSA mentoring. Huge amounts of funding for international students but home students are disregarded because they bring in Less money. Way to financially focused don’t want to actually provide a great teaching experience. The careers centre is lacking and they don’t have good knowledge in what is needed to land a good job within industry. Sheffield is beautiful but this university is not, the standard what is offered doesn’t reflect the amount paid and only makes me realise as to why more people aren’t attending universities or choosing to do degrees because what this course has highlighted is I could of learnt all the information from home for a fraction of the price. Terrible university, terrible support, what a waste of 3 years of my life.
Very unsupportive of my daughter who had mental health issues and has dyspraxia, they never sorted out her assessments despite us trying numerous times for the extra help she was entitled to this lead to her not completing her degree. So if you need support this is not the university for you
Had an amazing year at Hallam. Dont know about other departments, but mine was amazing. Hit a few walls in between but aced it with the help of the amazing staff.
This University is Awesome and is situated at the heart of the great city of Sheffield. Literally, 2mins walk from the Sheffield Train Station. Honestly, after taking the tour of the City Campus by 2 absolutely brilliant guides, unfortunately I can't recall their names both were 3rd year students; one studying Artsspent time in Germany and the other studying Economics and Logistics, showed us the campus and a few tips and tricks to follow for a smooth student life. If there was a rating scheme they would easily get 20/10. Literally smashed it out the park. Specifically, I went for Mechanical Engineering. The amount of facilities and support provided by the University is phenomenal. Especially the industrial links that are associated to the University from Rolls Royce to Lockheed Martin UK. They also have great societies that you can join such as their racing team or designing a rocket capable of reaching 100km with a payload. In fact they hold the record for the highest rocket height reached built by University students in the world plus you get to travel to the US to test the rocket out as well. Overall, I would without doubt recommend aspiring students to come and see Sheffield Hallam University as they have spent tens of millions renovating and improving their facilities. With doubt a smashing and great University.
Sheffield Hallam University is one of the greatest universities in the UK , with courses tailored to students' needs in order to assist them achieve a better future job. When you combine superb university facilities and resources with lecturers who truly listen to you and point you in the right direction, you have a winning combination. It is without a doubt Sheffield Hallam University is the best university!
