Quite run down. I mainly use the gym here which is great but when using the car park, especially in the evening or night, you feel like you're taking your life into your hands. It's pitch black and there's been a few times you just see people hanging around at the back where it's completely dark. You often see others parking on the double yellow lines at the entrance to the car park when it's late for using the gym so it looks like I'm not the only one feeling wary/ unsafe in the car park.
The arcade itself is ugly, but the businesses are unique, from a piano refurbishment place, gift shop and picture framers, an everything you need shop, an art studio with stained glass making, regular fruit and veg stalls, banks, chemists, charity shops... It's a shame the architecture lets the people and businesses down.
I shop the local boost and bought whatever I was looking for staff was nice and service with smile
Good for cards, wrapping paper etc. A variety of shops, hairdressing supplies, chemists and grocers. A gym us also on the premises.
A shadow of its former self, seems a little run down, but well it seems to be what is going on in most community shopping retail out of city places, K am not knocking it, but my memories of Shawlands from the 70 and 80s was of a clean much more community based culture. I go back now and again o get a feel for the place and visit all my old haunts. It’s worth checking out.
It’s got thing u need and PureGym inside makes things easy
Grim...but some great social enterprises thriving here...go and give them all of your money
Way past its sell by date. Needs serious investment to bring it up to standard but that could apply most of town centre High St's.
Historically this was a strange brutalist building that was interesting if not pretty. Then for many years it was unsuccessful with several places vacant. It's nice to see today it fully occupied. It has local shops, small supermarkets, charity shops, a very reasonably priced Witherspoon, and very nice to see some community groups have a space here too. I hope after the future renovation it retains the mix.
Always good to know what shops have in order to get the best deals . Shawlands is handy and has a good variety of shops to choose from . Not always as busy as town .
