I loved this place. Not every one's cup of tea. A lot of steps and quiet dark. Go off peak for a better price. You can re use your ticket for upto 7days just have to sign the back. Some lovely plants there to.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
We parked in the nearby short stay car park and headed to the chine. £9.50 each. You can use your ticket for 7 days so as other reviews suggest maybe go once during the day and again as it gets dark to see all the lights. We went in the afternoon and it was very busy at all. Its lovely to look at and you can feel very relaxed very quickly. It goes down to the beach. Thee is a coffee shop and a little museum together with toilets. The walk back up isn't too bad with quite a few benches if you need a rest!! The beach is nice and sandy with a few ice cream parlours and the pub. Really nice place.
Loved shanklin chine. Got a concession for our age. The ticket was valid for a week to visit as often as we wanted so very good value. Visited during the day and at night when the chine was lit and was magical. Very interesting little museum at the bottom all about the part the chine played in d.day and the follow up to d.day - fascinating. Beautiful planting throughout and lovely water features. Dinosaurs for the children a nice touch.
It was a lovely evening walk, we walked through from the top in Shanklin Old Village eating some delicious donuts from the tea room round the corner, then finished at the fisherman's cottage, It was a pleasant stroll though, it was a shame that the sun hadn't quite set to get the full effects of the lights, we didn't get another chance to walk through again, but the tickets are valid for a full week and you can use them as many times as you'd like.
What an amazing experience, really pretty place to visit. Is a must to visit during night time as the lights make such an amazing effect. We returned the following day for a visit during the day as well, is has magic spots where you can take amazing photosVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
I only wish we'd visited sooner in our holiday so we could return for free as many times as we liked over the next 7 days. We only saw it at night but it was simply magical! Mostly accessible via wheelchair with someone pushing you up the slight hills. Can't wait to go back, see it during the day and sample the cafe too which looks amazing!
Beautiful place and must visit at night. Visit it on Day 1 of your trip as you can come back within 7 days for free. Try and pick up night time to walk through as its magical with lights on.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The most spectacular thing to visit in Isle of Wight. Loved the view and the location. Very reasonable. Good offers available.
Is it worth what their charging? Probably not. Is it a lovely visit and very green? A million percent yes. The facts are: it's expensive for effectively a 20min walk with a waterfall at the end but for a trot about and seeing some nature it's definitely worth it. The war museum is nice and the tearoom ladies are trying their best with what they've got and the longhaired dude in the ticket office was nice enough. I don't think it's family friendly particularly and if you don't go for the evening visit you're a bit stuffed. Overall; nice and pleasant with no complaints but the price was a bit too much.
Small but nice. Wish we went at night but was still lovely. Some great views from the tea room onto the beach. No gluten free options which was a shame.
