The best Indian food in East Sussex. The Shanaz is consistently serving excellent Indian dishes with a great variety of traditional and special dishes. I like very hit curries and i am never disappointed when i order a Naga dish. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are huge. The main restaurant is downstairs and can be busy at weekends. Takeaway can be delivered or if picked up you get a free beer if the order is over £15. The staff are all very friendly and helpful too.

Tucked into yet another delicious takeaway last night from Shanaz. Chicken madras looked a little pink and undercooked, but thought no more about it because of hundreds of perfectly cooked meals from them. During the night and today I have been feeling unwell and my son is very ill with all the traits of food poisoning. Did anyone else have chicken madras last night (Saturday 11th Feb)? More disappointing is the fact that their response was to say the manager is away and he will call us in a week. One star last night, usually 5 stars.

Good food but constantly missing items. It’s either beer, or chutney, or a naan - most times we order there’s something not there. It’s as if the kitchen or people who put together orders don’t know the menu or don’t check the order. This last order, despite me asking they double check it, I was missing the naan that supposedly comes with the balti. I also ordered mango chutney which I was quickly told comes free with the poppadoms. Yet we received no chutney either! 2 stars because the food is decent, but we will look elsewhere from now for somewhere more consistent.

So pleased we stumbled across this fantastic restaurant. Don't be fooled by the modest exterior, inside you head downstairs to a spacious, very pleasant and well decorated dinner area where you're served by knowledgeable and attentive staff. The food was perfect and not overpriced. I think we arrived at a good time (around 7pm) as the place really started to fill up as we ate. The menu was very well laid out making it easy to choose what to eat and how you would like it prepared. We will definitely be going again the next time we're in town!

Great food, great atmosphere and the staff and owner are lovely. Would recommend this place highly
