SeaQuarium Weston

About

The Weston-Super-Mare SeaQuarium was opened in 1995, and was placed upon the first seaside pier to be built in Great Britain for over 85 years.

Story

Situated on the beach, the aquarium is surrounded by 3 miles of sand along the coast of Somerset, with panoramic views across the estuary of Wales.

The centre contains an amazing underwater tunnel, providing visitors with a closer look into the depths of our oceans. With sharks, rays and other creatures swimming gracefully past, just inches away. It doesn’t stop there, with over 25 displays throughout the aquarium, visitors can see the beauty and terror of the oceans creatures, from the severn estuary to the wonders of the rainforest rivers.

Our ray zone features an open top display that allows visitors to take a closer look at these graceful creatures as they swim to the surface. You will also have the opportunity to gaze underwater, as the sides of the display are made of a see-through moulded material called acrylic.

Live presentations occur at intervals throughout the day, as do our feeding demonstrations. Please listen for the show announcements.
After your marine journey, why not relax in our seaview tea room with spectacular views of the severn estuary. Please remember, our gift shop is your last stop for a momento of your visit. and, just in case you missed something on your first voyage, you can start your journey all over again!

I recently visited with my 8 year old, my first impression was how small it looked from the outside, I knew it wouldn't take us long to get around. Its situated right on the beach front with pay and display parking, we booked ahead of time but there was a mix up with our ticket, it was only valid on the day we booked but the staff there were great and sorted the ticket as they could see that we hadn't used it on the day it was valid for. there are lots of varieties of beautiful fish and the rays gave us a bit of a performance, my little one spotted nemo and dory which was the highlight of her day. lovely place and is well laid out, my only complaint was the cost of entry for the size of the attraction, I guess if your in weston for the day then it is worth while as you can go in as many times as you like, so spending some time on the beach and revisiting the fish for the ray feeding would be good.
Great place, friendly staff. My toddler loved it just seeing the huge fish swim past. Lots of different species to see and lots of information telling you about the fish and their habitat. Its a shame there wasnt more variations in the tunnel and no octopus . All in all though good times had.
Been twice now about a year apart. it's easy to find and right on the breach near the pier so ideal if you plan on spending the day in Weston super mare. my youngest who is 3 was free but still cost nearly £30 for 2 adults and a child . since our last visit there seems to be less fish there which is strange especially in the stingray tank. it's clean and tidy and alot bigger inside than it looks like from the outside but still alot of money to be in and out in just 20 minutes. in summary if you'm he spare money, while already in Weston super mare with half hour to kill pop in. but I found it wasn't worth a dedicated trip to visit.
Staff are good and happy on a wet day's coffee is great, us men left wife's to fishing and feeding the fish.very pricey but if 2 of you go in first and other 2 wait, 2 Adults go in free, so 4 only costs £19.00 . Tickets last all day.
Brilliant small aquarium for all the family, with knowledgeable staff and regular talks throughout the day. You can return as many times as you like on the same day and another time during the year for a small charge.
First and foremost I enjoyed being there and so did the 3 other people that went with me. However, there was a lot of information about Haloween activities but were not advised about where they were what times they were. There was hardly any one about to ask and the ones we asked had no ideas. The Windows in the place were poor for the money paid to view and certain sea creatures such as an octopus were not there to see. We did have a good time but it lacked a certain excitement expected by not just the 8 year old but the 13 year old as well.
Fairly small from the outside, but packed full of tanks, facts, and some surprises. Hall of Phobias very good, as well as the glittery Piranha tank. Children loved weighing themselves to compare with sealife on the scales, and the Recycled Model with plastic bag jellyfish was a particular talking point. Parking is directly across from the centre, and is £6 for 4 hours. The nearby Tropicana Bar/Café will allow you to pay for parking if you don't have enough change. Simply put their receipt in your windscreen.
Fantastic place for both adults and children, once you've paided for your ticket you can enter again anytime you want without paying on the same day..It's reasonable price to enter and would highly recommend while your at Weston super mare
Awesome experience with plenty to "sea":. Is great for little ones and adults also. Prices in my opinion is fair for the amount of experience. Parking available across the street.
Not a bad selection of fish. Some tanks looked a little tired. Most marine tanks had a lot of hair algea in them. Cafe was closed - but I'm not submitting my rating based on that. Parking was good although a little expensive - directly across £6 for around 4 hours from the centre. Would have liked it a little more child friendly as the only toilets were right at the end of the walk through.
