My partner had an appointment today on the midwives department, all the staff are lovely apart from one old battle axe midwife/nurse. Who we found very very rude. 2 weeks before we encountered the same nurse been rude to a younger midwife who wanted access to use her blood pressure machine but the old nurse wouldn't let her, even though she wasn't using the machine. I suggest the nurse in question needs a few more training courses in how to be more pleasant to people or if she's so stressed out in her job thinks about taking retirement. Everyone else working in the hospital are so friendly, supportive and helpful. It's such a shame one person can leave you with a bad impression.
My daughter has had issues with respiratory health for over a year. Have had to take her on occasion to the hospital mostly by referral appointment. Staff are instantly very focussed on me as the parent. Give me lots of questions to answer, make me feel that I am wasting their time. Try to make me feel how superior they are with long speeches or correcting me when I am trying to explain what I have noticed with my child. Try to pass me to other departments. Disinterested, salty almost insolent. The last visit appointment my daughter wasn’t even glanced at, not spoken to, and not medically examined. No helpful advice or progress. Simply collecting their pay checks and I am left wondering what for? Told I will have to wait for a different department that has had the referral for months and hasn’t contacted us. Does my child not deserve some kind of response! I am not waiting for a different department, a nine year child is waiting for a different department. A child that is completely invisible to Scarborough hospital. My child has faith that I will help her. I have hope. But no faith in Scarborough hospital at all.
Went to Scarborough Hospital with my Mum. She had broken a bone in her hand after a fall whilst we were on holiday. From the 2 ambulance crew who came to us first and then the staff at the hospital, they were all amazing and personable. The ambulance crew went out of their way to take care of us, fetching tea/sandwiches and making us laugh, they were lovely. We just wanted to say thanks to you all, we would be lost without the NHS!
A few days ago I took my poorly mum to hospital for her cancer update which might i add she is always treated with the kindest of care by all Dr's and nurses that have treated her over the last 11 years for the 7 different cancers she's been unlucky to have had. On this visit mum wasn't in the best of places and in extreme pain when walking. Due to another problem. So with her blue badge we parked as close to the Haworth unit as possible to make it a shorter walk. Only to find on our return a young lady putting a leaflet underneath my wiper blade. I asked what it was? and was Snapped at with " LOOK AT IT!" turns out it was a " please be Considerate to our dialysis patients'. Now I told "LAURA" my mum is in extreme pain has cancer but also has a blue badge and seeing as there isn't yellow kerb lines she's entitled to park there. she barked back "NO SHES NOT SHE NEEDS A PERMIT ' now I understand the dialysis patients needs to get as close as possible. I'm fine with that.. but to be spoken to like that especially my elderly mum is shocking. I'm not sure who "LAURA the leaflet poster is " but she needs to learn some manners and respect. Her attitude was totally unacceptable
I am a visitor to this delightful seaside town was on holiday fell broke 6 ribs also got a chest infection. Been in hospital 1 week in maple ward. The staff are first class nothing is to much for them. This hospital is far superior to all the awful west Midlands hospitals I have been. The cumberland hotel were excellent packing my luggage and bringing it to the hospital. A final update bought hospital suddenly got discharged arrived home at 9pm 10am admitted next day with covid and pneumonia into West midland hospital scarborough obviously did not want me there with infections. I now award them no stars
Was.sent up to Scarborough hospital last one before they diverted york phew as I pulled my back out very badly. Took 2 paramedics to get me off the bed , down the stairs and into the ambulance. Can I just say they was amazing but the female one kept making me laugh oooochh. I do see the funny side now I can actually move without having a back spasm. E.d where great too just had a long wait. Then was sent up to e.a.u. the doctors and staff where great had a 3 day stay up there. The hospital staff are so pushed to there limit. some staff where doing days and nights
I was admitted as an emergency to Scarborough A/E from the Ambulance team who l understand from my Husband were excellent, l was not aware being ill. The staff were very professional although after being in holding wards awaiting admission to Lilac ward became compass menteous. Although had quite a wait was continually cared for. I was in 4 days and was amazed the wo derful care and kindness l received all the staff from Dr's to the nurses and all ancillary worked very hard to make the patients stay a happy and memorable one. I was on holiday and taken ill so was out of my district, so didn't know what to expect, but l hadn't any reason to worry. I had previously worked over 20 years in an hospital. So l would like to thank everyone at Scarborough General Hospital for there ki dness and professionalism Sandra V Turner xxx
All the staff from the cleaners to the doctors and nurses on CCU were superb. Their commitment to the job is unbelievable, treating me and other patients with care, dignity and understanding. They brighten up every day when ill patients are in dark places. The pre coronary care in A and E was fantastic even though the staff were under so much pressure. If anyone has any heart problems just know CCU, have you covered. Big love to Hannah for brightening up everyones day and the beetroot !! . Much respect and thanks again.
My grandfather past away here he was taken to the hospital at 4 in the morning died at 8 pm, wasn't even in a room after all that time then they couldn't explain how he died at the autopsy but still ruled it natural. Another time grandmother when in with water infection and delusional was later discharged still delusional with a cannula in her arm won't recommend this hospital to my most hated enemy stay away if possible.
Sent an appointment cancellation letter when never sent an appointment. Rang the number on the letter but no one answers Last time waited 1 hour 41 minutes but still nothing. Spoke to main reception who didn't listen to what I said and just transferred me to whoever who still doesn't answer Absolutely shocking service Scarborough hospital has always been poor but its even worse now
