"It is with great sadness, that after 15 years, Scalini’s Gosforth will be closed for the foreseeable future.Due to recent weather conditions, our kitchen has been damaged to the extent that it will be unable to operate and provide a restaurant service. Unfortunately, as there is currently construction work onsite, the site is likely to be closed until the reopening of the new venue next year.We are pleased to confirm that the Three Mile Inn is still open for drinks within our usual opening hours and patrons are invited to continue to use the premises as normal for this purpose.We would like to thank all our Scalini’s staff and customers for their custom and support over the years."

Lovely place for food and drinks, recently refurbished and great staff. Good value for money.
Rude waiter serving us lent across us to reach others. Was abrupt and snatched menus then wine glasses away. Food was average. The steak was mainly fat!! When we complained no staff had made a check bk to see if we were happy with our food. So tried to make the most of what we had. We were offered 10% then 20% i feel the steak should have been removed from the bill as it was barely edible
Went to celebrate my bf 's birthday on 27/ 11/17 during happy hour Prompt service to order but the tagliatelle was very undercooked and they forgot my salad. They did knock off the price of the pasta but didn't offer us the happy hour deal or offer us the chance to review. It wasn't until we left that we realised ! Very shoddy customer service and food was only OK Disappointing birthday celebration!
The food from the pasta section is very good and the ability to mix and match sauce to pasta is an excellent idea. However outside the pasta option I wouldn't venture, the garlic bread always feels underwhelming and the steak has tended to be very chewy. Service has been good but often find that servers switch over which has lead to some confusion and minor mix ups in the past.
Decided to head for some food on bank holiday Monday after a few drinks in The Three Mile. Arrived at the restaurant at around 7, it was empty, wet floor sign at the door, not very welcoming. We were seated in the window away from the entrance and basically out of sight. Ordered wine and water for the table, the water never arrived. Sharing starter was fine but the mains were lack lustre. My partners calzone was so dry the meatballs were crumbling, had to ask for some sauce to make it edible. When the waiter asked if everything was ok, he was told it was average to which he replied “great thanks!”. No tip left, if you’re going to open until 8, service and food should be first class until that time. Such a shame as have had previously good nights there.
Pasta dish dry. All pizzas were burnt on the edges and dry. Not a good first experience, we went to celebrate a 21st birthday. The staff handled our complaint well although the food should not have left the kitchen in the first place.
My niece had her 30th there and they double booked her but they gave us free prosecco and garlic bread. I then had my 60th there and the staff couldn.t do enough for me. Service was little slow and one meal not up to scratch but they took it straight off bill. Atmosphere is brilliant and staff are lovely. Would definitely recommend it for a celebration
Never been so insulted by a waiter in my life. To be told I need to pay for my friend, who happens to be a woman, because I'm a man. The waiter needs to pull his head out of the 1960s. Food wasn't even good enough to make up for it. Will not return.
Manu is a bit lacking but hey it is an italians... Had a few of the chicken meals here all of which are flavourfull and cooked well. I usually recommend you book here as if its not busy enough to get a table you usually have to be off it by a certain time. Starters are a little expensive but you do get a decent portion, usually enough to share between two. Deserts are really nice and usually plenty of choice with chefs specials aswell. Atmosphere is nice, staff check up on you just enough. Overall nice place.... not amazing, but nice.
Always enjoy this restaurant, great food, calamari just how it should be. Good pizza and tasty pasta bolognaise. Staff attentive and friendly and quick service. Only crit, dining chairs in window side need deep clean.
