Salt is a little cosy restaurant in the heart of the marina in Ballintemple! It is a great restaurant to swing by for brunch or dinner or drinks! Especially before a gig in Páirc Uí Chaoimh! The Staff: The staff are really friendly and attentive. The waiting staff as well as the kitchen staff are very accomodating if you wanted to make a change to the item that you are prdering. Such as the type of bread or maybe not using sour cream in the item that you are ordering, etc. The Food: I fist started coming here in 2018 and back then the menu used to change daily and with the seasons. When we visited yesterday 23rd of April 2023 I noticed that it now seems to be a set menu, well at least the "La Carte" menu seems to be set. I ordered the "Anticucho Burger" and my partner ordered the "Eggs Benedict". She modified her order by swapping out the toasted muffin for a slice of toasted sourdough instead! I thought that maybe ordering the Anticucho Burger at half 10 in the morning would be too heavy but it was bar far the best thing I have gotten at Salt so far! The chicken was juicy and lightly spiced with beautiful tomatoes, lettuce and a dollop of their homemade Aji Verde! It was accompanied by their homemade garlic and parsley wedges! The Eggs Benedict is always a winner when it comes to a breakfast item and the protions are certainly satisfying at Salt! Highly recommend if you are feeling something hearty for the morning! Food Note: Their wedges are really really good and I would suggest ordering them as a side if the item that you are ordering does not already come with them! You won't regret it! They also list what options they serve that there is a Dairy or Gluten option available, just look at the menu for details. Location: Located in the little coner between Victoria Rd. and Monohan Rd. The area is quiet and I think this plays very well for Salt as there is usually parking close by however, sometimes you might have a short walk. Layout & Decor: The restaurant has an outdoor area to the front of the premises and as you enter there is a number of seats at the front with a little elevated den area as well. The main seating area is located near the front also and as you walk throught this area to the back there another outdoor area with a good amount of seating. Both outdoor areas are covered with an awning and there is a heater in the rear outdoor area to keep customers warm. The decor is unique with pictures, posters, statues, etc. Wheelchair Accessibility: There are no steps entering the premises to the best of my memory hoever the small den area to the front is up a step! There is a wheelchair friendly bathroom and the facilities here are always clean! The seating areas have room for wheelchairs to pass through and the chairs can be moved. Booking Note: If you want to sit inside I would book in advance especially on a busy weekend to ensure that you have a table as the premises is small and can fill up really fast! Overall Opinion: Salt is definitely a great spot for brunch or dinner and it is also a good location in the Marina for drinks. They serve delicious food with a variety of options and its the perfect place on a warm Summer's eveing for a lite bite and cool drinks! I love it and I highly recommend coming here! Parking: Parking can be an issue for this area as there is not a lot of spaces. Its also paid street parking so be sure to take note of where you parked. However, that being said, I have never not gotten parking space. If you are unlucky you might have to walk a bit from your car.
Had a lovely brunch here at the weekend. Had the Turkish pancakes/eggs. Food was so tasty and the staff were so friendly. Will definitely be returning!Food: 5/5
Delicious food regardless of time of day. Staff are professional yet personable. Sensible portion size with carefully balanced flavours. I usually come here for a delicious brunch with friends and swoon over the evening specials. This evening our babysitter cancelled and we came with our young kids and had a really pleasant evening. Delighted not to see a fast food kids menu but rather a preparedness to adapt menu items to their taste, while maintaining actual taste/flavour... My 7 year old came out saying it was her new favourite restaurant. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are not an afterthought on the menu
Amazing restaurant, delicious brunch, friendly staff and very cosy little backyard area with heaters. Salmon bagel was to die for and the burger was also splendid. Would definitely recommend
We booked for a Saturday 10am brunch and it's quite busy already which was a good sign. We had lovely coffee and very filling & satisfying food. I was just expecting more flavor on the pulled pork given its name "Mexican" but still it was tasty and egg is a bit overcooked for my liking. Loved the hollandaise sauce in the eggs benedict though we prefer more runny poached eggs. If you're looking for heavy but reasonably priced brunch, this place is a perfect choice.
Purchased a BLT last week for breakfast with a friend, he got the same. We were both disappointed in it. By no means was it disgusting, but if you made it at home, you wouldn’t think twice. €9.50 and and extra €1.50 to add a fried egg is quite steep for what’s on offer.
Really nice spot. Service is efficient, and the food is colourful and tasty. There are lots of options on the menu. Sitting outside is undercover, and there is a heater on and keep you warm. Definitely a great spot for brunch,l, but if you want to seat inside probably a good idea to book
Been here a few times and it’s always been fantastic. Staff are all lovely and the food especially the French toast is amazing!Food: 5/5
We had breakfast in Salt numerous times the French toast is to die for, but this was the first time we had dinner, our long overdue Christmas party. Food, as usual, was very wholesome, tasty and colourful, Céline and the girls couldn’t have done more to make our night extra special. That’s why I like this place, food is always tasty, fresh, unique but never extreme, so even a picky person like me can eat all the food on the menu. The apple tart is must. The girls always smile and not afraid to crack a joke. Prices, especially these times, are very good, we were shocked after we got the bill for the six of us starter, main and dessert, we expected it to be much higher. Thank you for the great night. Vegetarian options: Loved the pinchos, especially the ones with the artichoke paste, not something you see every day in Cork.
Booked online and said vegan in comment box. Only option on arrival was avocado toast one slice without the eggs and some leaves. Still charged the same price. Lots of vegans out there so this lack of choice is really disappointing. Staff were lovely and place is nice but left hungry.
