Fantastic location within 30 minutes walk of Salisbury City Centre. Very well kept site. Facilities kept very clean and tidy. Plenty of toilets and wash basins but only 4 showers ladies. There is a second block which I presume is the same. The shower cubicles are huge and have textured tiles on the floors which prevent slipping but watch when you step into the little changing area as these are smooth and lethal when wet. There is a rugby club next door which welcomes campers and if you tell them you are staying on the site you can purchase drinks at members prices. There is only one set of bins at the entrance which is quite a way off if staying at the bottom of the site but are handily placed as you would be passing often. 10 minutes walk away is a lovely Harvester Pub, The Old Castle which is very family friendly and large, so tables are usually available. Opposite The Old Castle is Sarum Ironage Hill Fort and Castle ruin. If you can manage the walk up this is well worth the effort. The views from the top are amazing. Very interesting history.nI would happily visit this site again.
Great site. Clean facilities, warm shower block as stayed over Christmas period. Pleasant half hour walk into Salisbury alongside the river. Pub 5 minutes walk opposite site. Pitches a bit sloping so need blocks under caravan feet.
Excellent campsite in a very good location within walking distance of Salisbury centre by footpaths. Old Sarum overlooks the site and is a short walk away. I recommend looking up Old Sarum on the English Heritage website and reading its history before visiting so you can understand what you are seeing. It has been occupied by Iron Age, Roman people and the Normans during its history.
I've stayed for over 4 months over the last 2 years. This is an amazing site. Credit to the club. Sorry about the smoked kippers.
Always a lovely place to spend a few nights. Staff friendly and polite. Facilities clean, warm and hot showers. Perfect location for visiting the area.
