Great place for a cold beer, hot cuppa or a good range of freshly prepared dishes. Very handy location next to the beach and a carpark too. Seems as if they have had a change of staff and attitudes to customers all for the good! The counter areas are covid safe, staff polite and friendly and the chips, although you do seems to get more of the razor sharp crispy bits than most chippy serve up however that rest of the chips are either nice.
Easter Monday in the pouring rain is definitely off-season, but this was still nice and tasty as an experience. Not top notch, but well priced for what it was. And significantly better thanwalking dogs on the beach in horizontal rain
*The sailor boy freehouse* Lovely friendly pub with always lots going on especially weekends and height of season. Kareokes on the green outside are great fun, and they also do evening entertainment inside. Bit dark and old inside, but dont be put off, still a lovely friendly local pub : staff also great espacially as it gets busy. *sailor boy cafe* We love this place! We are a family of 6 & regulars that stay on seawick or martello and always spend days and evenings here! We LOVE the food here, often come for breakfast or lunch. Such a super service, quick but fresh cooked food, always piping hot, lovely staff, that do a great job on busy days amongst them all. Slushes and ice creams for kids can even get a cold beer or glass of wine. Outdoors is a fab atmosphere too in the nice weather between the freehouse and chippy next door also and arcades and things for kids right next door too. We love it here, one of our fave holiday spots and highly reccomend x
The best roast dinner had for a while, home cooked, not frozen, vegetables cooked just right not slushy or too hard, meat tender n all in all was very nice.. Gets packed so recommend booking! Good service n hot food would def visit again.
First time eating from here today. Was absolutely delicious. We had the cod,plaice,scampi and chips. Very generous portion size. Very friendly owner and staff..Very good prices..Next visit to Clacton and we will return..many thanks..
Went for breakfast which was ok. Nothing special but an average 'greasy spoon'. What's most annoying is the noise, especially chairs being scraped across the floor. Would advise to eat outdoors if possible to avoid this.
Lovely food, friendly staff. Relax family atmosphere.
Considering the amount of people trying to get food at once when I went, the service is outstanding. The food is good, but not amazing vs other chippies. The curry sauce was warm, chips good, pie warm, sausage in batter was ok.
Popped in for Sunday lunchbooking in advance is a must food was absolutely lovely. Really good portions and great value for money. The staff were so friendly. Will defiantly be coming back!
Used to go there regularly in the past before lockdown. New owners have decorated the interior and looking fresh and clean. Old atmosphere has been lost though. Constant noisy moving of chairs reminding us of thunder. New mugs kept drinks hot and appreciated. Dinner for us came in batches and first person had finished eating before the other two meals arrived. Chips were the thin skinny ones not traditional chips. The saying goes something about not to repeat happy memories. So true
