Still my favorite restaurant in Lincoln, attentive staff, super tasty currys and even our 6 year old daughter said its the best ever! Naan breads are amazing!
Booked for a party of 13 at 8pm on a Saturday evening. There wasn’t many people in so you’d expect a rather quick service. This wasn’t the case. Drinks were served and then we sat and waited for the first main to be delivered to the table almost 90 minutes later. I have to say my food was lovely, however, other colleagues meals were cold and one person didn’t even get their meal at all. There were rice sides and naan breads missing too. We were given a few free bottles of beer to lighten the mood but come 10pm when people haven’t had the food we ordered it became quite obvious we weren’t going to pay for what we hadn’t received, but were presented with a bill for the whole lot when they didn’t even know what had been served and what hadn’t been served to the table. At one point we had 3 members of staff all shouting at us about our complaints. We settled on a figure we weren’t happy to pay but wanted to leave the continue with the rest of our night. They admitted they got it wrong but by that time it was too late. The service was horrendous. If they can’t handle such a big party then they shouldn’t take the booking. Only given it one star as my food was spot on otherwise would have been zero.
Worst restaurant curry I have ever had. To start on a Saturday night they had no cold lager and offered us warm? Poppadoms were soft so clearly old. When our meal came my curry had a film on top like you get making gravy and my rice came out in one big lump and you had to shave it off to get some. It was shocking, I would highly recommend not going.
A slightly tricky one to review. Having had great reports about this restaurant we decided to give it a try. On arrival we riskily hadn't booked in advance it was clear they were extremely busy, being a Saturday evening around 8:40pm. There was a noticeable mild air of controlled chaos which we found somewhat off-putting. However, after popping out for a quick drink before returning, we were found a table quickly and service was excellent. We ordered poppadoms, 2 main dishes off the signature special list and a lentil side - and were warned this might be too much food. Food came quickly and was delicious. All 3 dishes tasted vey different with individual spices being detectable. Naan was fresh, had that soft-steamed-bun texture and was a perfect accompaniment. My partner found some of the dishes his main and the lentil dish a little too sweet, but that is a matter of taste. We were not able to finish all the food so the ordering advice had been correct! Next time a slightly calmer atmosphere would be appreciated by these diners, but the food was great and we will definitely be back.
Food and service was above average and nothing to complain about. Not one of the best places for an intimate meal. Decor felt a little cold. Perhaps some warm colours instead of magnolia? But still it was clean. Not on my top 5, but I would eat here again.
Had a meal at the Saffron with my partner and daughter last night and . The service was fantastic, attentive, polite always with a smile. Food was sublime. Poppadoms with different yet tasty pickles. Amazing starter and mains. I had a special tandoori sizzling dish which whilst hot had so much taste and depth. This was my child's first Indian restaurant experience so the chef made her dishes off menu so she had the "best food ever". Fantastic. The customer sat behind us was full of praise also we overheard as we left other diners saying how amazing it was too.
This used to be one of the best in Lincoln with very good contemporary Indian food. Now the menu is sadly very standard with few specialities or and just standard dishes cooked rather perfunctorily. 3 different dishes were all unexciting with the meat/vegetables swimming in a red sauce with little flavour of individual spices. Service was sweet though.
Actually terrible. Rude wide boy drinks waiter , who was totally out of place amongst other staff. Items not available after ordered but no apology or suggestion of something else, still on bill at the end. Food was awful. Not a decent curry. Small bits of meat and a whole lot of sauce. Very over priced. Slow service. Avoid or cook a curry your self and you won't be disappointed
Unfortunately, Castleview restaurant was fully booked and my husband really fancied an Indian. Came across this one that was pretty empty on a Friday night - you know what they say “no customers = not very good”. Well we were pleasantly surprised and even more so to find that the family running it are from Slovakia and the waitress never been to India. A friendly family run restaurant with good food and good service - there was only 6 people including us so you wouldn’t expect anything less. The poppadoms came with “interesting” pickles - onion, carrot and mango chutney. No raitha Which is my favourite dip and the korma I’m not very adventurous was quite spicy for me. Over all it was a pleasant meal in a nice setting with a good atmosphere.
Food was OK but my friend wanted a beer with his curry and wasn't allowed because the boss wasn't there! We were the ONLY customers and their card machine was BROKEN - funnily enough all exactly the same as on my last visit a year ago!!! Oh, and it took nearly 15 minutes for staff to go out for change in £5 notes
