The majestic Ryde Castle is a former Victorian manor ideally located on Ryde seafront overlooking the picturesque marina. The newly refurbished bedrooms are all en-suite with flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities and free Wi-Fi. Just loved this place.n5 star food rating. No airs or graces, just a great place to stay and dine.nFabulous breakfast selection each morning, combined with great service and helpful staff.nEvening meals were excellent. I recommend the mixed grill if you like your meat.nBar was good, serving your usual selection of beverages.nWill visit again.nGood price for accommodation.nTrains, buses, hovercraft and ferry right outside your door 50 yards up the road.
Food is mediocre, staff adequate. I'm a fan of a Greene King and this is s fab building but the atmosphere staff and food is only acceptable. The look of the building should reflect great food and service. Not complaining I would have done that there but would love it to be a bit WOW.
Like The Ryde Castle, good food and selection of ales, but visited on the 'Steak Night' for dinner and no steak left...surely an establishment this size will be aware of supply and demand on their weekly promotions a lot better? Replacement dish ordered was nice chicken and ham pie but not what I was looking forward to.nOne member of staff kept wandering off when I believe he was meant to be working which put more pressure on the only server left on the counter to serve as well as take food orders. This had a knock on effect of cleaning tables so had to clean and clear own table first.nDog friendly establisment
I went there on the Saturday 29th August and ordered a Timothy Taylor's landlord and it tasted and smelled like vinegar so I tck it back and asked the bar staff to smell it and they agreed, then I asked for a abbot instead and that was the same so I just left.nnMaybe there not cleaning there lines properly or not rotating the stock but either way it wasn't pleasant
Frustrating waiting to order food - long queue of customers with food orders, but only one out of 3 staff behind the bar able to take a food order. Staff - who seem nice and hardworking in all other respects - have a tendency to swear in front of customers when things get hectic, which doesn't add to the relaxed, family friendly gastropub vibe they should be striving for. Food quality not great for the price - eg, vegetarian sausage offered as paid extra for a kids meal was overcooked and hard as a rock, although staff refund the payment when I raised the issue. They have a nice drinks selection including traditional beers like Abbot and Old Speckled Hen, so I wish we'd come here just for drinks and eaten elsewhere to be honest!
