The majestic Ryde Castle is a former Victorian manor ideally located on Ryde seafront overlooking the picturesque marina. The newly refurbished bedrooms are all en-suite with flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities and free Wi-Fi. I purchased an Estrella then proceeded to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy watching the world go by. This was all rather enjoyable.nThen I ordered a steak and ale pie and immediately wished I’d gone somewhere else instead.nnUPDATE: After a response from the owner, I realise I didn't give enough feedback as to the problem:nThe vegetables were rubbery, including the mash and the pie was mostly pastry with minimal meat filling. The staff didn't come and ask how the meal was so far, or ask how it was when collecting my plate, otherwise I'd have given feedback that way instead.
Lovely well meaning staff. Maybe a touch more training needed for excellent customer service. . But generally, a warm welcome. Hotel condition is poor. Expensive building to maintain it is very, very tired.
We had fantastic food here at good prices. The decor of the place is very interesting and despite the many other pubs on offer in the region this one holds it's own. I found the staff very hospitable and welcoming and quick to serve. I'll definitely pop in again and recommend to friends!nnWe didn't stay at the hotel only visited the pub which is a Greene king. We also used the car park where there is plenty of space.
We weren't booked into the hotel but had lunch, which for me, I ordered the salmon Florentine, with the perfect poached egg, was a triumph. I would happily have eaten it twice over. My 3 dining companions had the veggie Wellington roast, and each finished their meals. One slight drawback was the Brussels sprouts were too underdone to eat. But a 5rating
Staff were beyond lovely, however seemed extremely overworked resulting to a long wait for food and drinks. The staff were extremely apologetic but just seemed to be run off their feet. The food was varied, some of it was brilliant whereas other bits were just decent, missing things from the meal and not that tasty. It’s located right near the beach so can get extremely busy, so worth booking ahead. Full restaurant but only 2/3 staff working on the floor. Also safe to say we weren’t the only family who were disappointed.
