Based in St Helens, Merseyside, we are not a corporate company but a Veterinary Hospital owned by 3 veterinary surgeons, offering professional veterinary and referral service both locally and nationally.

We are happy to help you locally with any queries, advice or support on veterinary services that you may require. Our fully qualified veterinary and nursing staff offer the highest level of medical and surgical skills from our Veterinary Hospital and Referral Centre in St.Helens so you can be assured that your pet will always be well cared for.

We have local branch surgeries for your convenience and late night/weekend opening times to help accommodate your busy lives.

I had to make the difficult decision to put my cat Bruce to sleep 3 weeks ago and Rutland were fantastic. I can't thank the vet and reception staff enough for making what was an awful time for me as bareable as possible. They gave me all the time I needed to say goodbye and I felt I could take my time making arrangements for my boy without being hounded for money. They dealt with all the insurance claim for me and it made a truly heartbreaking time easier to cope with. If I have future pets I will definitely be staying with Rutland they have been so great. They are respectful and can tell they genuinely care about the pets in their care. Thank you so much for everything you've done for me and my boy Bruce who's now crossed the rainbow bridge.
We had nothing but genuine care from all the staff when we recently used Rutland House with our bearded dragon. It was a sad outcome, but they did what they could. Great communication and information sharing, and lovely people.
I've had nothing but good experiences at this vet. My cat Miso has had tummy issues for a while and after not much help from our previous vets we switched to Rutland House, and the difference in the level of care is massive. They've treated Miso so well every time we've visited, I'd never seen him so calm at a vet appointment. Steph took her time in understanding the problem and explained different options to us, not pressuring us to take the expensive option - she even let us know that if we ever wanted to speak to her, we can ring up reception and ask for her which was really reassuring. Overall I'm really happy with the level of service - it really feels like they do their best for our pets!
Had to have my elderly dog Molly put to sleep last night. Can’t thank the vet enough for her advice and kindness. Been coming to Rutland vets for many years. I feel they gave best care and appropriate advice. Special thanks to Anna the vet at Freckleton for all her kind attention .
The staff are lovely, friendly and gentle with my pet dog, Layla. Layla is only a puppy and today was her first visit to Rutland. Everyone fussed over her which put her at ease because she loves attention and she was then at ease to have medication. 5 star review!
