Ok... The food was nice. Not quite with Red's or Longhorns, but it was all tasty. The main was nice but the sides were poor tho, overpriced and badly executed. Biggest problem here is the venue, it's just weird! The decor is like a children's creche, not a bbq pit smokehouse?
Great place for groups inside the Gate. The epic food section of the menu is immense; but the normal sized plates of food looked good too. The service is slightly slow, but understandable given the amount of food you get
Love this place and don't understand the all the bad reviews... Me and my boyfriend have been a couple of times and there is always quick service and big portions of great tasting food. Staff were also nice. The only thing i would say is i would love to see another vegetarian or pescatarian option in the epic food list.
This place is awesome! Me, my wife and sister inlaw went for food and we not disappointed, I had the double cheese burger in a calzone, bloody brilliant!
Horrible food. Extremely overpriced. I ordered Chicken Waffle and couldn't taste the chicken. All I could taste was the overwhelmingly sweet waffle. The spice rub fries were extremely salty. First bite and I immediately thought "here we go, kidney failure." My friend ordered a milkshake and it was just that. Just milk. Runny milk. The waitress couldn't care less about us customers. Just came and asked "nice, right?" Not gonna come here ever again. Can't believe it's received so many positive reviews.
We turned up for a meal last night and it was not a very pleasant experience to say the least. The food was average and cold when it arrived to our table. Half of the party have had poorly stomachs since. The service I experienced from a member of staff was disgusting, she actually rolled her eyes at me when I politely asked for another drink. We were a large party of 11 so the amount we spent last night was substantial and for us to be rushed off the table was not what I would have expected at all, we were not able to have a reasonable conversation as the music was like being in a night club. The whole experience was not pleasant at all.
Drinks were unique, exotic and very fun but just a very bad culinary experience. This is the type of place you go when you want to stretch your stomach so be cautious when you order. We went on a Monday night at 8pm. All the food seemed to have a end-of-a-shift feel and look to it. Over cooked, dry, hard to chew. The cheese was congealed instead of smooth and creamy, the chicken was way over cooked and dry and just didn't taste right even after two attempts at it. The corn dogs were almost dripping with grease. The brisket was stringy and tough, the BBQ sauce was more vinegar than sauce and who in their right minds serves something that tastes like boston baked beans with corn chips and jalapenos??? This strikes me as the kind of place where it's much more about quantity rather than quality. Probably won't be back unless they significantly up their game.
BRILLIANT. I am not a one to write reviews but thought I needed to express how impressed I was with this restaurant. Food is gorgeous, looks just like the online pictures. However, the one thing that has made my many visits to Rub worth it, would be the service. Not one fault. Rub you have AMAZING staff here that know just how to make you feel at ease and enjoy your experience even more. Happy energetic staff is rare thing to see, but they have it down to the T. I would fully recommend anyone that is drooling over the online pictures to head to Rub Newcastle. How grateful I am that this was the first location I decided to try. We havnt been disappointed yet at this venue. My mission is to try all Rub restaurants as I am writing a blog soon. 2/3 completed. Its phenomenal how different the service is within the same company, just different locations. Birmingham next and I am excited to see what they have to offer.
Rump steak was nice but sides were disappointing. I know frozen mash when I see it and I've had better rice with those microwaveable uncle Ben's. Price didn't justify food quality and my friends were also unimpressed with their orders. We were the only ones in which is never a good sign. Won't be returning here. Better off at Byron burger near greys monument
Ordered the nugzilla for a birthday surprise expecting it to be huge as it is clearly shown on the promotional video, when it came it was flat as a pancake and literally the same size as a chicken parmo from the takeaway not like a huge chicken nugget at all.. once realising we were misled by the size of that we had to order more food as it wasn't enough to share between 2 people.. the burger was basically a tonne of red cabbage doused in vinegar with a measly patty about the same thickness as Burger King.. not restaurant standard at all, the half a chicken we also ordered was still bleeding and the and we left feeling hungry and disappointed. The staff however were amazing just a shame they're serving awful food. Will not be returning, overpriced for crappy food.
