Never been here before but went with some friends last night on their recommendation. The food was fantastic, the service friendly but the decor dated. So much food left over from mine and my wife's meal that I've been able to have it for lunch and tea today :
Probably the best Indian food in Lincoln. Decor a little tired but there's always a warm welcome. Tried other Indian restaurants in Lincoln and while the decor might be better the food does not compare. I have been going to the Royal since it first opened and as a person who enjoys a real taste of India will continue to do so
I booked our Christmas meal here for 10 people. Inside it has not changed at all in like 10 years. Its a very strange and dated look, kinda like someones living room with old damaged tables and chairs. All of our menus had food on them even though they were wipe clean, which i thought was quite disgusting really. The food was nice and service good.
My first time at the this restaurant tonight. Took my daughter and son in law. Excellent food and service! Cost much less than i expected and we were given a free complimentary drink after our meal. Will definitely go here again
Unfortunately the food isn't great as well as the decor. Everything was reheated possibly in the microwave as the rice was becoming cold and hard as I was eating, not usual of food was freshly cooked. Didn't have the drinks we wanted and was replaced with a flat coke instead. Avoid if you want good food.
This is the worst Indian I have ever had the experience of trying. Foul smell of meat, foul salad the lettuce, cucumber and lemon was brown like the decor of the restaurant. Me and my girlfriend are from the West Midlands and know our way around the menu and trying new flavours. We asked for one thing which was no onion as she is allergic. And we were told she should have tandoori as the sauce would have onions in alarm bells start ringing as experience dictates this food has been prepared way in advance similar to Gordon Ramsey’s kitchen nightmares. We ordered poppadoms as chutneys which were okay. We ordered tandori chicken and mixed kebab start. These were disgusting the meat on the mixed kebab smelt like it had oxygenated for far too long the meat was left there was no chicken in the mix of the meat. The onion bargee was lovely when your starving. : the chicken starter ordered had a brown salad and something growing near the bone of the chicken. For main tandoori chicken was brought out sizzling exciting but it was cooked with onions which wrecked the meal for my young lady which upset stomach and feeling unwell in mind. Then I had a chicken Pathia brought out. This is a go to curry along with jalfrezi. It was disgusting it should be sweet with a spicy kick. It tasted like vomit with green chillies in it. The chicken was cooked but it was vile. Then we had a keema naan thing easy the meat inside smelt the same as the starter. We left £33 worse off but with our health intact. Pro- leaving Con- cold, miserable empty restaurant. Ignorant staff and flat coke! Yes flat Coca Cola! Don’t go and waste your time or money! If you are reading this in the restaurant pre ordering get out!
Good food and good service. Slow cooked lamb is fantastic needs to be pre ordered!. Also offers takeaway. Just writing this review is making me hungry!
Nicky Wilson - I find your comments VERY had to believe at all. My and my husband are huge lovers of all Indian food and after trying just about everyone around Lincoln we settled that the Royal Tandoori was by far the best. The food is to die for , the staff cant do enough for you , they bend over backwards to accommodate and we are always given a free complimentary drink at the end of our meal along with hot towels. When ever we have taken the children with us the staff fuss over them , give them free drinks and sweets , always friendly and a pleasure. Nicky I feel maybe your expectations are far too high and might be better suited to the more pompous Sagra in North Hyekham. We have celebrated many of our birthdays here and any friends we have taken along also cant speak highly enough. PLEASE DON'T LET NIKKYS REVIEW PUT YOU OFF - TRY IT FOR YOURSELF - YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED !
Love this place. Excellent food and service. Complimentary drink and Turkish delight at the end of your meal. Can't fault it. Not expensive either. Highly recommended.
Been going there for a few months now and the food has been really good.. ordered a takeaway tonight 15.03.16 chicken tikka masala,keema rice and plain naan bread..well, got home and had this chicken in brown sauce dish that was no spicier than a can of heinz baby food with even less flavour!..and the keema rice was pilau rice! After a hard day at work i rang in hoping they would provide the meal i had ordered and was invited to drive all the way back to lincoln to collect it.I can only agree with the compliments of other diners in the past..but i dont know whom was on the hot plate tonight..but i wont be going back to find out.
