The rooms are very shabby. The shower was ancient and the water scalding hot. The bath was rusty. There was a mix up with the meals at dinner which meant one of the 14 guests had to eat on their own. 3 of the things we ordered had run out. However the food we did have was very nice. Continental breakfast is poor. Ran out of Danish pastries etc before the majority of our guests were down for breakfast. No toast machine to help yourself. The cleaner was lovely and helpful!! The Reception area is awful and not at all inviting. Needs a new lease of life.
Went here for family lunch a week ago. Good choice on menu, but i wasn't impressed with the steak pie i opted for. The meat was awful!! Apart from the fact that there were only 3 small pieces in a decent sized pie, i couldn't eat it. It was fatty & chewy & i felt it was made with really cheap ingredients. To be fair, the sweets were very nice & a good portion size. Mum had a chicken meal & enjoyed it & the chicken was well cooked. The place looks a bit shabby & definitely needs a lick of paint.
It was 50/50 really. Met an old friend for a drink and a bite to eat. I had the Fish supper which apart from the stale bread was excellent. My friend had rump steak which was pretty much inedible. Service was quick but when we asked for salt was told "its over there" ? Not sure we'd go back.
Went for a quick lunch, which was reasonably pleasant in the restaurant, unfortunately the bar section as you walked in from the carpark was rough, with bad language and unpleasant stares evident from the all male clientele. The meal was served quickly and was value for money with the cask beer poor selection although the lager had a good selection. There needs to be a full upgrade of decor as it feels a bit run down.
Adults food was good but the kids was appalling. Kids pizza was just a microwave pizza like ones you buy in the shop.. Other kids meal was a tomato pasta, sauce was thin and it literally tastes of nothing. Won't be coming back.
This place has gone down hill in a big way. 4 tables that we went to sit at were dirty plenty of staff around and not busy...waited over 10 minutes with only 1 person in front of me. Had to take both wine glasses back as dirty waited again glasses still dirty ended up cleaning myself. Food was average at best only reason got 1 star was due to the very polite young man waiting on rest of staff could Lear a bit of customer service from Him
Very dated and well worn. Leaky ceilings, black mold damp patches in bathroom. Smells of smoking in full building. Noise of water tanks most of the time. Had it going from 4 am on my visit. No hot water at all and shower failed to work full stop. Smoke seals on room doors not fitting correctly and locks for security are old thumb latch type. Poor and in desperate need of cash investment to achieve better standard. No problems that site staff can fix as these are all at estates level.
Would not recommend the Sunday roast. No gravy, cold Yorkshire pudding, barely warm vegetables. Tables dirty, chairs sticky. Kids portions quit big.
Appalling. I had the jerk chicken and ribs, and oh my word was it bad. Dry rice, the meat was tasteless, atmosphere was tasteless too. Asked for a rum and ginger, and the bar staff didn't know what ginger ale was. Safe to say, I will never return here again.
Could do with a jolly good clean. Our seats were grubby and stained. We only popped in for a quick drink but certainly won't be returning.
