Made a quick trip here and I was impressed by its size. Loved the many art works found along their corridors. The stunning view from the 5th floor is unforgettable. I love the fact I could park very close to the main entrance in car park 8.
Had a minor operation at the day hands case. A nurse took me to where I needed to be from the main entrance after I got in the wrong lift. All the staff I met were great, polite and made me feel relaxed and welcomed. A big thank you to all, your doing a great job
I work here & it's a good hospital. The team and i recruit the lovely Trust volunteers who will meet you at the main entrance, drive you to your clinic on the yellow buggy or be there to assist in our many departments or on our wards. They're all amazing and yes I love my job.
Just had the most pleasant and efficient A&E visit; was helped at each stage by friendly staff despite it being quite late on a Thursday night, had an X-ray taken and interpreted in record time, and although the hospital layout was a bit confusing, a nurse who'd just gone on a beak took time out of that to show us the right way to get back to Urgent Care. Thank you to all the helpful folks at A&E, I hope the ridiculous silliness of a grown woman injuring her foot trying to turn a cartwheel brightened your evening a little!
I went to the emergency department because of a cyst that I had in my leg that was infected and needed a small surgery. I spend all day since 8 am to 7 pm , 11hours to be seen by a doctor . They put me in a bed I don’t know for what when I was waiting , it means that I didn’t eat or drink water during that time . Never they offer me any food . I eventually give up of waiting for the doctor and I had to come next day 7 am to the urgency department again . Near the same waiting time . I really don’t understand why such a simple procedure can’t be done in the GP or a walking centre . And when I had the surgery done after waiting for near 18 hours in total they give me a full anaesthesia , why just why , are they mad , this hospital need a full investigation because things don’t look right in there .Imagine be put to sleep for a cyst of a hair follicle infection . They all need to have their heads tested .
Arrived for 9am for my partner to have a chest scan. We were booked in very quickly and had the scan very soon after. Unfortunately there seemed to he a lack of staff to see to us after that. We had to wait a further 3hrs for the results during this time a little old lady had asked to be taken to the toilet twice and was ignored finally the doctor called my partner in and said the results were not through yet and he would ring my partner at home.why could this not have been an option at the beginning of the appointment? o
I needed to go to Day Surgery for a minor operation. Ms Wilkinson and her team, who looked after me on Monday were all fantastic. I wish to thank them all for the great care and attention they gave me. You all do a brilliant job, keep up the good work.
why is it so difficult to ring main reception and have someone pick up? When I visit reception at Kings end always very quiet and person just sitting there bored, or main reception, always someone there, but try and phone up and you might as well write a letter! Does the main reception number ring at all main receptions? There has to be a better way of using the staff than is currently in operation Royal Derby :
Communication between wards and with patients family is terrible. It's unfortunate that we do not live in Derby and therefore unable to visit as much as we would like. This has been explained a number of times, to each person that we talk to on the phone. It took 16 phone calls just to locate where our 87 year old father inlaw was and once located they had no idea about his circumstances or his next of kin contact detail. I understand they are busy but the communication is worrying.
I just got home yesterday after being here for 2 days. No criticism of the doctors but I didn’t like where they put me!! 10 hrs in A& E on a bed in the plaster room. Then on a section where beds were set off a long corridor that had an atmosphere like gloom & death & finally to an assessment ward. A few of the staff spoiled it for me. One Indian nurse made a cup of tea for an Indian patient but didn’t want to make one for me. A nurse in A&E tried 3 times 2 take a blood sample & failed. She was incompetent. Another did it 1st time. A Japanese nurse in the gloom & death section jumped out on me at about 11.30 pm & told me I could not wander about & to go to my room. I told her I had only been to the toilet but she didn’t back down. Also in that dept the staff nurse refused 2 give me paracetamol for a headache. She was Carribean . I think there is a definite colour prejudice and it’s not the white section.. I was miserable through unkind staff & lack of sleep so discharged myself against hospital advice.
