It's a wonderful course on which a considerable amount of money has been spent in recent years, this has made it a great challenge as well as giving wonderful views of the club house. Catering is excellent too. However, the upkeep of the paths is terrible and this is a constant area of neglect. For the third year in four, I fell on a path again today. The paths are often littered with hazards, simply because they are never cleared or repaired- so you find large bits of tree debris on them. which are walking hazards. An additional winter problem is that large areas of the course are roped off to protect the playing surfaces- bravo for that but, no thought has been given to if the remaining areas on which to walk are actually safe. None of the bridges crossing the hazards feel safe and they are actually incredibly slippery. Golfer safety is compromised by all these things. In these respects the course doesn't live up to its Royal name compared to others which share its illustrious status and I can't recommend playing it in winter as a result, even though it is flat. There are plenty of hillier courses around, where you will likely feel safer.
A golf course with a royal status. Wasn't the longest or the most challenging course that I played so far, but it very well maintained. Has a classic club house that server fantastic food. Probably give higher recommend to the restaurant than the course. It's a been there done that course, as it's not easily accessible. Private course
A lovely well maintained course. Lots of bunkers, which I seemed to keep finding. Plenty of sand in there unlike a lot of courses I've played of late. Greens run well and are fairly fast. Some interesting holes, but not the most challenging. I was lucky I was with a member and others who had played before as there was no signage to each holes. Halfway hut was great as we passed it twice, but we could only pay via our members account. Overall lovely, but over priced for what it really is. Not so bad with members guest rate, still a bit too much if I'm being honest.
One of global golf's truly unique and special places. Incredible history but with the most welcoming membership enjoying a golf course which is a delight to play. 10/10.
Afternoon tea with friends; a lovely historic setting with views over a beautifully maintained golf course. A fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Staff very friendly and helpful. Wide choice of teas and dietary requirements catered for. The golf is probably very good as well!
Amasing location super friendly personnel and members. Definitely the best place to play golf in London. All members are extremely easy-going and despite being a very exclusive club everyone is very approachable. Highly recommended if you work in the city and need a place to wind down.
Very professional and friendly setup as a clubhouse, and the course was in terrific condition.
I don’t normally do reviews but this is a must to warn others. Visited here on 3rd December after wasn’t able to book Shooter Hills Service: 1/10 - kitchen closes at 5pm but we weren’t “allowed” to be served food at 4pm. Bar staff is very grumpy and feel a sense of racism here. No idea what we did wrong Golf course: 4/10 - you can find range balls everywhere on the fairway in hole 13 and hole 1 which is disturbing It’s very difficult to locate next holes tee box as there is little guidance on where to go next after finishing a hole. No signs no nothing very annoying Course is super easy and not challenging at all. No water or any others obstacle other than a few bunkers Price: £75 for 18 holes is definitely not worth it. Shooter Hills is nearby at £60 with amazing course and spot on customer services from everyone one there First and last time here
This is my second visit. Last time it was good, this time it is in almost peak condition - just ready for the Club Championship. The tees are immaculate. The fairways... I'd like to have a turf making machine as I could do with grass like that at home!As good as carpet Bunkers are really well sanded and looked after. The greens were running at 10.5 on the stimp, then it turned a little breezy - wow! Would say that as with most courses, players need to learn what a pitchmark repairer is. Be good to play this course more regularly, but it's a long way from Luton! I'd like an invite to next year's Open please!
Great place for a good round ‍ and relax thereafter. I‘ll be back.
