"Celebrating distinctly modern Australian cuisine, Roundhouse beats the drum for the region’s abundance of world-class produce with a proud Novocastrian spirit.Positioned on the rooftop of one of Newcastle’s most iconic buildings, it’s hard to imagine a better vantage point of Newcastle’s harbour, coastline and beyond to Hunter Valley."

Lovely evening w’ friends. Food presentation was fabulous & plentiful. Love the wine list. Go for the views they’re amazing. Service sadly could be better, it wasn’t busy and waited at length for wine to arrive. A beautiful dining venue. Rombergs is great also.
We had an amazing time. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was great! Portions weren’t big, especially for the price but I supposed that was to be expected and you pay for the service and the view. I recommend booking a late night dinner as I found the view at night with the lights nicer than during the day. We had the pork belly entree, duck, and market fish of the day which was a cod. We also had their chocolate cremeux with cherry sorbet and their coconut creme diplomat with mango sorbet. We all preferred the coconut creme as it was a refreshing way to end the meal. The chocolate was a little rich and heavy for us.
I’ve been to dinner and breakfast here. For dins the food is fine but the high bench tables are awkward and too wide. We were in a group of 8 and it was maddening being unable to talk easily to anyone opposite. Breakfast is fine. The service is poor, the waitresses are lovely but Inexperienced and slow. There is even a queue to get coffee at the buffet and then the machine had to be cleaned! So we ordered barista coffee but that took ages to come. The breakfast is very ordinary. Canisters of packet cereals but nothing fresh like muesli. Scrambled eggs only - no options like poached or omelette. Fantastic views over Newcastle and the harbour. The bar view is reduced by the bar itself over the window which seems rather absurd.
Roundhouse is part of the continued development of Newcastle's dining scene. New and polished restaurants continue to open which is great for the people in the city. The views from Roundhouse are spectacular, though I think they may actually be better during the day rather than the evening. The food is professionally prepared and served. The highlight were the Yamba prawns and the desserts.
Fantastic view and pleasant dining experience. Great vegetarian option. Excellent wine list but lacking independent craft beer. Friendly and attentive service.Food: 4/5
Spectacular views, great food and service. We’ve being here several times previously and always had a great experience. Modern decor with an excellent bar, this venue is a must if you’re a visitor to Newcastle. Even if you’re a local, it’s a must. The restaurant offers seating for large groups and couples and you’ll get a view wherever you sit. We celebrated our wedding anniversary recently and also stayed over night. Whilst the rooms are small, they are well appointed and the little details are all covered. We had breakfast in the restaurant the following morning and the choice is extensive. We throughly enjoyed our stay.
The interior was nice but we didn’t see stunning night view. The service was great. Food was above average but didn’t surprise us a lot. Especially the presentation of the mussels was a bit awkward thought the taste was nice. The sauce didn’t match with the duck breast.
Great dining experience. Food and service matched the pricing. There were some unique cocktails to try like the Garreembee. Thank you to Ken our host for the evening, who was both accommodating and knowledgeable; right down to the native garnishes in our cocktails.
Stayed at Crystalbrook for the long weekend and tried their buffet breakfast. Whilst limited variety the offerings were fresh and good quality. Particularly liked their pastries and bacon. Reasonably priced for a hotel breakfast $38pp. Staff were friendly and attentive with empty plates being picked up efficiently. Would definitely come back again if staying here.
I've been privileged to experience 5 star dining & accommodation in a number of countries. Perhaps it's early days & the Crystallbrook is still to find the tone to suit Newcastle but I didn't leave the restaurant tonight feeling that I'd visited our finest. The service by the staff was wonderful, if not overly eager to clear our table. The views of our city were lovely. The atmosphere did afford that holiday feel but it was loud. We all struggled to hear each other in conversation. We all enjoyed our meals & cocktails, but, they just didn't wow.
