Me and a friend were struggling to find somewhere to have a decent pint around Somerton/Langport. Each place we went seemed to be more of an eating pub, and we eventually ended up at The Rose & Crown, with its inside out bar! Couldn’t figure out what that meant until I saw it myself! Pretty unique serving experience, plenty of spaces and cosy rooms, to sit and enjoy a pint. Pool table and big outdoor area from the looks of things although it was freezing, so we stayed firmly indoors!. Lots of interesting upcoming events too - classic cars, Irish music nights, and rockabilly etc. :
Haven't visited in years, not much has changed despite a 'refurb'. Beer was good and pub wasn't so busy that we couldn't find a seat. Worth a visit if in the area as Eli's is a proper old school establishment!
Amazing, wonderful is all I can say.. The best pub I've ever been to.. Very traditional, good choice of ales and lovely people.. Very friendly and easy going..
We always try and time a trek to the West Country with a visit to this charming pub. It had been 10 if not 15 years since our last visit and we were thrilled it hasn't changed one iota. There is no bar, which is a curious oddity. There are several rooms rather than one large room. We had a long chat with the landlady, who explained the pub was run by her mother, her grandfather, and her great-grandmother, so has been in her family for over 100 years. Family photos adorn the walls. We've eaten there in the past and as we now know the same family are running it, we're sure the food is still of an excellent quality.
Great pub which doesn't have an actual bar! Really good selection of beers including craft ales. Really loved that they sold beer from Tapstone brewery in Chard which is definitely my kind of thing. Also had Neck Oil and Punk IPA on tap. The cask beers were also lovely!
Fine old thatch roofed house in the heart of the village. A variety of rooms lead away from the bar area, which is not really a bar, more a stillage for the beers. Note the unusual lever action handpumps on the left. Good range of mostly local cask ales and ciders. Good, tasty food too. Friendly service. Highly recommended.
Fascinating pub with no bar, you stand in their cellar and take your pick of great ales etc. Very friendly pub.
Superb friendly pub! Still in the same family many years later. So glad we have such a great pub back open in the town.
I have only been going to the pub for 71 years, and it's the place, to be happy in.
Nice friendly welcome local ales and cider, nice farmers co-op on a Friday 5-7pm so check it out.
