My son got married at this hotel recently. The venue itself was amazing. Beautifully decorated and very spacious. The food during the day was second to none. That where the good review ends. This is not a leg friendly hotel. Stairs, stairs, and more stairs. This hotel is not disabled friendly. My parents were put in a room above the bar and they never slept due to the loud music coming from the bar. I personally felt that this hotel did not cater for the residents. They were more interested in the walk in clientele that bought drink and ordered food. The breakfasts were very poor too.. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone
Stayed over as moved out of Sunderland recently the hotel has always been good for drinks food etc but this was the first time I stayed I booked through Booking com for £90 bed and breakfast. I requested an early arrival which was granted.. reception was spot on everything went through fast, my room I think may well have been former service quarters small & tidy the bathroom was something out of the 60s very small very cold old bath toilet and basin with shower over the bath .. flushing toilet and running tap very very noisy the bathroom floor very cold tiles from 60s wasn't what I would call spotlessly clean. I doubt it would win 4 in a bed!!!nnI didn't do breakfast but understand it is very good.
Great hotel right on the beachfront, with plenty of character, must be popular as there was a wedding on as they had a ballroom, receptionist said there was also weddings the night & week before & another bride to be come to pay off the bridal suite for the week after while we were checking in. It has a spacious bar & outdoor area with nice decor. Rooms are spacious, except you had to shimmy around the edge of the bed in ours, but the beds were really comfy & the shower was powerful! I'd stop here again no problem!
We stayed at this hotel to catch up with some relatives that live in Sunderland. It was a lovely stay - the staff were very friendly and the rooms were lovely, clean and warm. I only scored 4 stars as the rooms were a bit small, and some difficult to find especially if you were down in the basement but cannot help layout of the building!. I think you may struggle staying here if you need an accessible room.nnThe hotel tags onto a pub which was nice, and breakfast the next morning was delicious.nnWill stay again when visiting family.
I have stayed twice now at the hotel and the rooms are average at best, beds are uncomfortable water pressure soaks everywhere.nnThe worst part of the stay is the bar attached to the hotel has music blasting all hours and drunks making noise, with no pre warning. other reviews state this also and I wish I paid more attention to themnThe cafe, Crumbs is hired out for party’s and has extremely loud music so much that the floors vibrate.nnNice location nice building poor business concept don’t have rooms above hired out party venues and stick family’s with children above it.nI wouldn’t recommend to anyone as you can stay a 2 min walk along the road and have the same views minus the extremely loud music. I understand that hitting out places makes money but there must be a limit to the sound.nnAvoid if possible.
