Came for a two night stay to see Sunderland play. Had two rooms .First visit here. The location was absolutely ideal, 8 minute walk to the stadium. Very smart modern hotel. The rooms were perfect, clean and modern. The beds were very comfortable, pillows were ok.tv in room. Bathroom was clean and very usable, shower water very warm at night, bit colder in the morning. Temperature was good, thermostat in the room but didn't need to change it.The breakfast was the usual holiday inn but tasty with choices. The staff were faultless, from the cleaners, chef, bar staff and reception staff, all welcoming, helpful and friendly. It's the best holiday inn we've stayed at HOWEVER the reason I didn't give 5 stars is because our rooms were right above Keel Tavern and we could clearly hear the music beating out until midnight both nights, the first night we both slept ok because we were that tired but more noticeable the second night. If staying and wanting a good night's sleep I'd advise asking for a room away from the bar underneath.
My husband and I had a really fantastic stay here. The room was comfortable, reception area was nice to sit in, location was brilliant for stadium and easy walk from the station. And staff were all absolutely fantastic, so helpful and friendly. And a lady - whose name I think was Eden - made us up a really nice breakfast bag to take with us as we didn’t have time to sit down for breakfast. Thanks for a great stay!
Decided to make a stop over in Sunderland before heading down to London the following day. Now, I'm not particularly fussy about hotels. A quiet, clean room with a decent bed for the night is all I ever ask for but I got far more than I'd bargained for! What I got was a spacious, modern looking room with all the amenities that you could ask for and a decent view from the window too. Everything was spotless, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a great shower.nnCheck in and check out was very easy and the staff were very friendly too. I also opted to go for the buffet breakfast which I don't normally do but I'm certainly glad that I did as it was delicious with plenty options that catered for most if not all people.nnAnd the best part? The value for money! It didn't cost much at all for the stay and yet I felt very satisfied about what I got for my money. Definitely recommended for a short stay at the very least!
Stayed here as a stopover with a coach company travelling from Scotland to London. Fantastic place. Great meal and also breakfast. Beds were so comfortable. Lovely staff so friendly and helpful. Loved the farewell waves as we left.
I really enjoyed New Years Eve 2025 in the hotel Holiday Inn.nJust next to the big place where the big party for the New Year was held.nRooms spacious and comfortables, good sound proof, very clean.nBreakfast very good.nThe staff were friendly
