The Roebuck Centre is EMPTY. Unsure what the plans are for this complex but everywhere is closed down except the Mobility shop. Iceland / Argos/ everything has gone
There are no shops open here now and it's full of teenagers meeting for fights and smoking. Enter at your own risk if you want to be involved in fighting no security moving them on
As someone who used to work inside the Roebuck, it just feels like a ghost town inside. Now that only the Mobility Store and a Mobile Phone Case Booth remain though entrances to both Lloyds and Boots are located there it's safe to say the Roebuck is dying. Newcastle-Under-Lyme used to be bustling but if the state of its major attraction is anything to show... It's not going well.
Good God were have all the shops gone when Iceland closes on 1/10/2022 there will only be 1shop left in there and if you don't need a mobility scooter there will be nothing of interest to you, I know Newcastle under Lyme was turning into a gost town for many years but it's now lost the fight, well done Newcastle Council
Absolutely zero in there. It's a walk through from the car park to the edge of Newcastle shops. Iceland shut up shop and went. Unless whatever is starting in the old Argos wakes the trade back up it's nothing short of an empty space. A disability shop appears to stay open and a doorway leading to Boots. Newcastle under Lyme council should really hang their heads in shame. It was once a vibrant shopping centre but now it's a place that kids hang out charging their phones. Little more than a shell of a place that no one cares about, topped off with dirty glass doors and a roof that leaks when it rains.
What used to be a thriving shopping mall is now a ghost town of closed up stores with only a bank and Boots accessible to it. If stores down return to it, they may as well bulldoze it down.
Its such a shame that its been let to get so run down. All the shops are shut and now is only used as a walkway from the carpark to the iron market and high street The council should get their act together and encourage independent retaolers to come back, there seems no incentives to get the town centre back to the lovely market town it use to be
I actualy went to Iceland which is only 1 of 2 shops still open in the Roebuck. Unfortunately it is closing at the end of September. I can only assume that the rates are far too high for the shop owners to stay. It is only good now as a way into town from the car park.
Used to love going to the Roebuck Centre when I was younger but it's really gone downhill over the last decade because it used to have shops like Argos, Next, Dorothy Perkins and some shopping stalls along the main corridor but has now been reduced into a large, mostly empty walking corridor the only place really worth going to now from the Centre for me is Boots, and the only other big shop left is Iceland, but apart from those, the Centre is nearly dead from the main car park into Newcastle town centre and I don't even feel comfortable going there anymore in case there are unfriendly people about, especially in the evening. Hasn't really helped with the pandemic over the last two years, which has further accelerated it's decline. Can only hope shops and eating areas return there in the future have read that a food court is planned for the former Argos space and that the Roebuck Centre gets back to what it used to be but with the time it seems to be taking, I'm not so optimistic about it.
Absolutely nothing in here. Used it to access the car park.
