3rd time I have left this chip shop raging but thought I would give it another go! More fall me, ordered a fish cake, larger chips and 2 cod, not a difficult order, however when we arrived only 1 man was inside waiting so it’s not busy, however after waiting 20 minutes outside the door for the order i popped back in to ask how long it would be. The young girl behind the counter looked at me like I’d killed the first born of everyone in Chelmsford and said “you had it” “ no I’ve not I’m still waiting right there”-as I pointed outside to my dog, she then said “ oh I give it to someone” and then said “I will put it though” I said I’ve ordered it ages ago and still waiting “I don’t have a ticket” she said not sure why that is my problem I ordered and was waiting and then one of the other girls she “this is the ticket”- it was still Sitting on the side next to the delivery tickets and other stuff blue-tacked to the counter. I asked how long will it be and again got a look again that could kill, maybe it was the spiders she had on her eyes they I guess she would call eyelashes but was a cold look and was not what you would expect from asking a simple question and I don’t know call me old fashioned but a few dam apologies but NOOOOo! And hang on readers it gets worse worse then her giving my food away or not Even doing the ticket- whatever at this stage I waited outside AGAIN and this time made myself visible so nothing could go wrong! Only to turn around and see the 2 girls actually standing there talking about me and then turning around looking back and then laughing I know exactly they was talking about us and didn’t do a great job of hiding it. So eventually after 5-7 working days my order was finally ready, I then said to little miss attitude behind the counter “you know it’s really not nice to talk about people especially customers when the are fight in front of you let alone behind there back” she then said with gritted teeth she was sorry about the wait for the food.not a sorry for being busted for slagging off customers in earshot! I checked the bag and the short hair woman who was cooking and had remained quiet up to this point stated walking down looking all intimidating. Was not coming out for dinner and a dance so she should’ve stayed behind the fryer not coming down ready to start on a customer who was shocked by this appalling behaviour received today. A great family business. They are very friendly. The Cod is always FRESH. Chips is also always fresh.  I called to order and I was told it will be ready in 10 minutes. I got there in 10 minutes, and they delivered.

Hands down the best Chippy in Chelmsford and possibly Essex. Chips are beautiful and staff are all lovely. The guy in the back always says hello - really good people and great food here get yourself down to Robinson's if you're in town.Food: 5/5

Bloody awful. Minding my own business during a night out. My mate gets served before me, eats the food and moves on. I continue waiting. 15mins into this disappointing drama, I ask questions. The 18-25yrs old staff give me attitude. I'm literally asking when my food will be ready? A refund later, I've lost over 30mins of my life and still starving. This place is awful. Hyped rubbish.

The food was good, but I was disappointed with the size of a large portion of chips. Where I normally go, a large portion would have filled one of the long boxes, but they gave me only one box, supposedly containing two large portions!Food: 5/5

Food always been decent, some staff were rather rude when I last went Moaning that more customers were coming in because they were near closing time. I’d be like great more money coming into the business but they seemed to not want the business.

Ordered and turned up at given time last Friday eve to what can only be described as unorganised chaos.  Fish and chips were barely like warm and these were for my elderly Fathers birthday.  Can only say was not impressed.  This isn’t the first time that this has happened and for this reason that is why I have only rated as two star.

Very nice fish n chips, curry saucy and burger for all of our family. Keep the good food coning and we will keep buying! Thanks

Rediscovered this fish and chip shop after many years of not living in the right areas of Chelmsford. As a lad and young man robinsons used to be on my walk home or nearby for all fish and chip needs. Now rediscovered during lockdown we as a family have had amazing hot, fresh and frozen food from them with great service and customer communication, especially when ordered is going to be slightly late. My kids love the food and so do we. We've also ordered frozen food for bbqs and meals... such as ribs, burgers, baconamazing and other products.....  Try them out and see what you think. Robinsons is part of Chelmsfords history and long may it continue.  Photo is of Animal burger.... cheeseburger with sausage, bacon, hash brown, onion ring and burger sauce.... mmmmmm.
